Q: My Son is turning 18, wishes to open a TFSA with $6G. and add $6G /yr for next 30 years. It will be a buy and hold. Please recommend a portfolio of ETF's (Vanguard/Blackrock/BMO) in Canadian Dollar's that he can use to invest.
Based on the ETF'S you pick, average of past 5 years Total Return. Can you give me a "guesstimate" of portfolio value In 2050---Will be apart of his Retirement income.

Q: Could you please expand on the distinction between consolidated vs. net revenues for REAL.
Does this refer to the split between the two sides of the business, i.e. title vs appraisal? Or is it effectively gross vs net revenue, where the net takes into account the actual costs paid to appraisers and title searchers etc....

Q: Hello 5i,
I am looking at adding either Boyd Group Services (BYD) or WSP Global (WSP) for a 3-5 year investment in my TFSA. If you were to choose, which one would be your preference at this time. As always I appreciate your feedback. Thx.

Q: Hello 5i,
I have two questions pertaining to the spin-out:
1. Would I be correct in assuming that if held in an RRSP, there would be NO tax implications at all?
2. When typing in VTRS, I see a second option showing up: VTRSV. What, if any, is the difference? My broker recorded the transaction as VTRS and so that is what I use.
Many thanks, as always!!
Stay safe and well!!
Cheers,
Mike

Q: Hi. I follow your Canadian balanced portfolio and have all the above industrials except XBC. Following your advice to not to add to losers SIS has become my smallest holding at 2%. I have had it for over 3 years so not really down when considering the dividend. My though is possibly replacing it with XBC. Your insight would be appreciated. Is SIS just out of favor and XBC overpriced. Or does XBC just have so much more potential?

Q: I own a number of Canadian dividend paying companies (ENB, TD, BCE, CNR, CM, SLF) in a taxable account. Is there a downside to "journaling" these stocks to the US side in order to be paid these dividends in US dollars? It would allow me to reinvest in other US listed companies without having to exchange money.

Q: Hi,
I own REAL. I rode the stock up all the way to $33 and watched it get "killed" on Friday (20 Nov), when it was down almost 16%. I am not day trading the stock though.
I didn't see anything that is sinister in the financials for the quarter that was reported on. Company looked like it was growing well.
I am now "under water" with my holding and I was looking at maybe buying some more as I consider the stock to be on sale.
What is your take on it?
Thanks,
