Q: About a month ago, I sold these equities, with the only reason being to take a tax loss against gains I took earlier in the year. This has left me with some liquidity. What do you recommend regarding re-purchasing these companies, or waiting for a more stable or upward momentum. Generally, my portfolio follows your balanced equity portfolio.

Q: I have a trading portfolio of about $53K, about $18K is in cash right now and I'm looking at investing it again this year after selling a bunch of stocks last year. I currently have about $22K in RBC, BNS and BAC, $3.5K in Go Easy and $1.5K in Orca Gold and would like to keep these. I have a further $7K in various oil and gas stocks which I'm underwater over 50% on, I'm thinking of still hanging onto them as I thinking they maybe at there bottom and like to recoup some of those loses.
I want to invest the $18K in growth oriented stocks that pay dividends and keep them long term, as I'm an investor not a trader. Can you give me advise on what areas of the market I should be looking at in 2019 that were very oversold in 2018 and due to rebound, also specific companies in Canada to invest in, I don't mind also looking at the US but with our dollar down so much this year I think I'm better of with Canada.

Q: The share price is at 28 cents today. Does this not make the company an attractive takeover target. That's about 210 million with no premium and there first FDA drug is just around the corner with a priority voucher attached. I don't think their going broke with Thompson backing.

Q: If I purchase ENB.PR.V (series!) will I receive$0.372 USD per Q until recalled by Embridge. If I held it in TFSA, in Canadian dollars would there be any US holding tax?
What is recall date? Would it be for $25.00?

Q: Has BAM, BPY or any of the other Brookfield subsidiaries ever cut their dividend in their history? BPY and BEP are getting close to an 8% yield and I'm wondering a cut could be considered if it went much higher.

Q: Hello -
If I own 5% of each of BIP.UN and BEP.UN, would it make sense to own 5% of BAM.A as well (or any particular percentage) ?
If it makes any difference at all, I own BIP.UN and BEP.UN in an RRSP and would consider owning BAM.A in an open account.

David Rosenberg during his semi annual visit to A. Maccreath's show on BNN talked about investing in non correlated assets. He highlighted Corporate bonds as being exciting and also long-short strategies. long Corporates and short Government bonds. This is exciting, but way above my pay-grade...any suggestions for non correlated assets to be checking out ?Thanks and sorry for the vague question

Q: Would you consider WEF an appropriate long term holding for a TFSA (diversification is covered). The numbers seem to suggest a very attractive entry point. Am I missing something?

I am confused. The major banks have a year end of October 31st. I can go to Morningstar and the financial statements are already posted. Are these tentative numbers? It would take a lot longer than two months to have final numbers Taxes are not even due until 180 days after year end. As a general rule, how many months after corporate year end do companies release their final financial statements?

Q: I initially purchased these preferred shares when they were yielding over 7% for income in my RRSP. Today they are yielding over 9% as the price has fallen considerably. Normally I would be concerned with an investment yielding 9%, but ECN.PR.A have a minimum dividend (6.5% for $25 face value). Do I have reason to be concerned or do you see this as a buying opportunity especially since they have the minimum dividend guarantee (as long as the dividend is being paid)?

Q: Kindr Morgan is offering a special dividend of $11.40/Share by December 31.
The Motely Fool is recommending buying this stock for this special dividend. What do you think?

Q: MX stock appears to be strongly correlated to oil & gas price. Would you agree ? If so, do you expect this to continue in the long term ? Please comment.

Also, do you know why methanol usage appears to be mostly from Asia (more than 70% based on the November 2018 investor presentation - page 37) ? Thank you!
