Q: I am retired, living off dividends and distributions I receive from my CDN portfolio. For a number of years, I have put my high-yielding REITs with less tax-efficient distributions in my TFSA. I have paper losses on all of them, but it is a long-term game and they still have high yields, except H&R. Given H&R’s holdings, in a context more negative toward retail and office spaces, should I take my loss, even in a TFSA, and replace it with NWH.un, which I have in my taxable account and has a higher yield? Thanks, Martin

Is it a good LT hold for a retiree? Only a couple years old, again why would the banks buy in.? Please make sense of it.

Transat A.T. Inc. Voting and Variable Voting Shares (TRZ $2.49)
Q: Hi,
I’m wondering why TRZ is trading above the (pitiful) $5 new offer by AC. With the vote to be held on Dec15th, I assume that most shareholders will take AC shares as exchange, at a lower price of $17.47, which means a value for TRZ close to $7 now . But wouldn’t that dilute AC stock, with the risk of a sell-off afterwards- or the amount is too small to make a difference? Without the OK from Canadian and European regulators, isn’t any choice risky right now? And selling TRZ at the market a better choice today? Thanks.

Q: I need to consolidate my social media companies, could I trouble you for a quick ranking please.
Q: Please comment on the relative pros and cons for each, and rank them for purchase soon. I am grateful for your excellent service!
Q: Hi team 5i, I may be your only member following this stock but I find it a unique and intriguing story. On July 8th they filed for CCAA/Chapter 11 and the stock traded around .80. Since then the stock has traded mostly above $1 and closed after a late run today on high volume at 1.75. I don't see any news today. I believe they will be emerging from CCAA mid-December, perhaps someone knows something?? Do you have any comments on this restructuring or can you turn up any news from your sources that I may not be able to access. From what I see, the loose leaf tea concept is a hot trend right now and these guys are the market leader.

Q: Hello 5i Team
Firm Capital Apartment REIT (FCA.UN / FCA.U) is a small cap Canadian REIT focusing on the US multi-residential market.
1 - How does it compare to the other US focused residential REITs trading on the Canadian Markets? Specifically compared to BSR REIT (HOM.UN / HOM.U), Flagship Communities REIT (MHC.U) and the closed end fund Starlight U.S. Multi-Family (No.1) (SCPO.UN)? Most of these REITs pay their distribution in US dollars and trade in both C$ and US$ on the Canadian Exchanges.
2 – Would Tricon Residential (TCN) be a better choice, even though it is a corporation (versus a REIT) and has a lower yield?
3 – Would it be better to research the US listed residential REITs and select a suitable candidate?
Thankyou
