Is there a comparable product to HSAV available on the Canadian Market?
I am looking for an "accumulating" type ETF to accumulate funds on a monthly basis for annual expenditures (i.e. rrsp contributions, tfsa contributions, income tax installments etc).
I currently hold HSAV for other purposes.
I cannot transfer funds from non-registered accounts into rrsp/tfsa monthly as I make the annual contribution(s) on Jan 01.
Ideally I would use money market mutual funds for this purpose, however RBC Direct Investing charges 1 % fee on MMF purchases (seems rather excessive for MMF).
Q: I am currently doing my quarterly rebalancing of my portfolio. I need to up my US equity holdings. My current US holdings are AAPL, BRK.B,XOM, JPM, MSFT, MCD, V. What are your favorite long term US holdings right now ?
Q: Good Day team 5i: Considering I am a long way away from my original purchase price of 94.50 and very unlikely to see that again , and considering my target date from before the pandemic needing these funds has shrunk to less than 2 years .. Funds are in a TFSA can I transfer to my unregistered account and have a loss of some value. If I chose to leave it in TFSA can you suggest a couple top replacement for MG? Tks and much appreciated Larry ( unless of course you feel I should hold )I do have other options for the funds needed.
Q: It is my understanding that VFV's holding is VOO, which has some withholding tax implications. ZSP holds the individual stocks, so no withholding tax. Am I correct or has VFV changed. If I'm correct I believe ZSP is a better product for Canadians.
Q: I understand that the growth profile of Capital Power Corp does not look promising for the next couple years. That said, recently there are nice gains in this stok (+25%). Is the stock a hold, buy or sell now at this higher valuation? Is there another utility that is preferred at this time?
Q: I currently own ZEB, ZUT AND ZDV for income. I'm considering to add one of either XEI or XDIV or sell my holdings and consolidate into one of either XEI or XDIV. Please advise whether adding or consolidating is better and which of XEI and XDIV is the better one. Please take as many credits as required.
Q: Natural Gas prices on nYMEX are quoted to be around $US2.90/MMBTU but the Alberta natural gas price is trading at around 40cents Cdn per GJ. Since a GJ is almost the same as MMBTU why such a huge difference in price?
Q: Hi 5i Team
What would be the tax implication of holding these two etf on non-register account? Are they both subject to the 15% witholding tax and if they are is it better to keep it in a USD account to avoid currency risk and better liquidity?
Q: Capital Power has performed extremely well this year, for a utility stock especially. I am wondering how much more room it might have to run. I also hold AQN at a loss large enough to eliminate my gain on selling CPX, so tax considerations are not an issue. I am pondering the wisdom of selling both AQN and CPX and replacing with another utility such as BEP.UN. I am looking at capturing a yield >5%. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Q: I am planning on buying gold etf but also would like to do a silver etf
what % of a portfolio would you put in the gold and or the silver etf in these times and looking for hold thru mid March (assuming turmoil on several fronts. Thank you.
Q: Could you provide a revised outlook on Tenable Holdings? It has been relatively flat for some time, so wanted your thoughts on whether this is a buy, sell, or hold.
Q: So much news these days about the ramp up to electric vehicles and the eventual elimination of internal combustion engines.
Governments have committed to installing charging stations to accommodate future demand.
What is the current status of power generating facilities. How easily can they ramp up supply to satisfy the future demand or is there already enough capacity.
What are your favourite Canadian and US power generators to satisfy this demand. Thank you
Q: Clean Harbors was recently put forward on BNN as a business that quietly makes money working with bigger, better known businesses. The chart looks good over many years. But seems to have a lot of debt. What do you think of this business for new money? Too expensive?
Q: Have about $18.0 K U.S. that I would like to put to work for 30 to 40 months. Would appreciate suggestions - ETF or individual security. Sector not too relevant although, like most Cdn, investors, I am overweight financlals and resources. Keeping the funds in U.S., a mix of capital appreciation and reinvested dividends would be nice. Thanks for all the 5i Team do and a shout out to all the members whose thoughtful questions have helped me in recent years.
