Q: Well, this sort of thing is alarming. DR is down almost 5% with selling at noon exceeding the average daily numbers. The only news I see is the dividend announcement.
Who is selling? On what information does someone unload like this? How do I get such, presumably, useful information?
Q: Hi guys, thanks for the excellent service and continued improvements. I find the new Portfolio Analytics section very helpful. Long winded question here so please deduct as many credits as you see fit.
I am overweight in tech, at 40% overall. I have 40% tech in both my RRSP and TFSA.
The biggest names I have are AAPL 9%, TEAM 6%, and NVDA 6%. All of those are held in the US side of my RRSP.
I have a mix of 15 stocks in my TFSA, roughly equal weighting. The tech holdings in there are PHO, KXS, CSU, SYZ, SHOP. Each comprises about 6% of the TFSA but just over 1% of overall holdings.
I am 7-8% underweight in:
consumer defensive,
communication services,
industrials,
utilities.
I feel I should trim back or sell at least one of AAPL, TEAM or NVDA but hard to given they have all been growing and have potential to grow further. Are there any obvious choices to cut or pull back here? Can you please suggest at least one name from each of the following sectors:
consumer defensive,
communication services,
industrials,
utilities.
Q: ISRG reports today after market close. I seem to recall that they missed consensus in the previous quarter. I think these are factors in the recent market weakness.
Regards,
Jim
Q: Regarding the technology sector in Canada, how many stocks would you suggest and in what percentage of each for a 10 - 15% allocation for growth with no or low dividend? Which stocks would you recommend?
Thanks for your service
Q: What are your favorite longer term secular themed ETFs that may potentially provide a source of alpha. Growth focused. Have been looking at IHI, HACK, BOTZ/ROBO, SKYY as potential options but would like your analysis and suggestions. Thanks as always
Q: One of my largest holdings in my RRSP is Blackstone L.P. Today they announced they are converting to a Corporate structure as at 7.1.19. It appears the market likes it. What effect will this have on the dividends (ie: yield & taxes), the SP now and going forward in your estimation? Should I buy more (to a reasonable % of course), sell or hold?
Q: Hi 5i I was stopped out kxs this morning when it dropped to $76.13 and $.02 below my stop and then recovered to to over $77. My question is should I be selling at some point close to the stop and if so how would you determine when. I know you are all about buy and hold but in a time of uncertainty I would rather limit my losses. That said I do suspect that the market makers are manipulating the price to take the little guys stops out and profit at their expense. To frame this as a clear question can you recommend a strategy to minimize needless losses or suggested reading on the subject.
thanks
Q: As you stated; QST traded 900K+ shares yesterday at 4.60. If we were to assume this was an insider selling off, could we read into that and say that if you were taking a new position in this stock that you could hold off as this may pull the price down to or below that price? Under that same assumption, could we also take this a signal that it may be fully or overvalued at this point. I like the momentum though am weary when there are such emeded gains recently. What is the insider ownership of QST and what kind of positions do the chairman have? Any recomendation for someone trying to get on this train..
Q: What are your thoughts on TGO from a 5G perspective? I hear they would be a major player if/when that gets off the ground. Do you see any concerns moving in with them for about 2-4%?
Q: SHOP has grown very nicely but I need to trim as it has become a large position in my portfolio. Could you please give me some suggestions of where to put the proceeds? Thanks!
Q: Hi gang.
TEAM dropped 8% after hours. I just bought some 2 days ago for a trade. Do you see any alarm bells which would have caused this?
Much thanks
Q: After Qualcomm's settlement with Apple on licensing issues and the subsequent huge spike in price, would it be better to wait a while to let the stock settle down before purchasing, or do youthink this new price will form a baseline?
Q: This question may be more for the forums and if so I can redirect it there.
I want to add a contribution to my RRSP to defer income tax. What would be the best source? I can move stock from my TFSA thus opening up more contribution room for next year. I can move stock from a non-registered account or I could make the contribution from cash reserves held in an EQ Bank savings account.
