Q: Hi, I'm 100% equities and when holding cash waiting for opportunities I've been parking it in PSA. With the yield so low now, do you have a few other suggestions for almost cash like bond ETF's that have low risk/volatility and low MER and have a higher yield (~2-3%)? Usually hold less than 5% cash in my portfolio and holding period <6months. I was looking at the Vanguard or iShares ETFs for options. Thanks!

Q: Hello 5i,
I was looking up some old answers about AD. An old answer from Sept. 19, 2019 states that AD had an ongoing tax dispute with CRA and potentially the US Treasury. Have these issues been resolved with the AD.UN income trust structure? Are these issues still a potential overhang for the AD.UN structure?
thanks for your insight

Q: Hi,
I have no utilities exposure at the moment. Looking or a Company with a nice yield that has part of their business in renewables since this is a trend going forward. I will also hold this name outside of my RRSP and TFSA for dividend distribution is ideal rather than other forms of return on investment. I am thinking of a 4% position given record low interest rates and the fact they MAY rise sometime in 2022 or beyond. My questions are: 1- Do you think 4% is a good weighting for the utility sector given current environment? 2- Which is your preferred name among these 3? I am leaning towards AQN for dividend level and the fact that it is paid as a dividend as well as the fact that some of the business is in renewables and they have a nice growth profile.
Thank you so much,
Jason

Q: Atara Biotherapeutics (NASDAQ:ATRA) has announced presentation of preclinical data of ATA3219 at American Society of Hematology.
Their allogeneic CAR T-cell therapy targeting CD19, Bayer has also just entered into an exclusive worldwide license agreement, for mesothelin-directed CAR T-cell therapies for the treatment of solid tumors with Atara.
What is your opinion on this company and it's medium and long term investment potential.

Q: Hello Peter,
Three high value stocks - ZM, PLTR and XBC. Despite earnings, revenue beats and raised guidance, you said ZM will drift lower and settle. With PLTR a similar story but you felt it would not drop to the target short of $20. And now with XBC, despite pricing an issue at $5.80 you don't think it will drop much and it has been holding up pretty well. Can you give an insight into how you made three different calls on similar volatile high value stocks? Is it intution?
I have been wanting to take a full position in XBC but it kept running away. What price would you suggest I jump in?
Love to hear what you have to say.
Regards
Rajiv

Q: i was just reading about Fairfax's new partnering in Africa and am wondering what your thoughts are on both ffh and the African effort. I have always considered Prem to be an astute investor even though ffh has languished of late. Africa does seem to have considerable potential and the two main men FFH is partnering with do seem to have solid credentials. What is your thinking on both companies? many thanks

Q: Looking at the above MAWER funds which I believe you still like in the Mutual Fund field. I am interested in MAW 108 which is US Equity. MAW 120 is I think 56% US/ Canada with several of the holdings the same as in MAW 108 and 33 % Europe. MAW 102 seems to be 65% Europe incl UK ,27% Far East and only 5% US.So would MAW 108 and MAW 102 be a better combo? I guess it is a question of whether one thinks Europe will perform better than the US . Thanks for any help.Paul

Q: ETFs
Can you suggest your top 1-2-3 ETFs traded on the TSX for Canadian, USA and International markets that should perform well (after fees) over the next 1-2 years and have good trade volumes? Also, would this be a good time to purchase hedge or unhedged ETFs?

Q: I own both and at the share exchange price for TOG will have a loss. In order to realize that loss for tax purposes I assume I will need to sell it. Correct?
If I do sell but want to maintain a larger position in the new company, am I able to purchase more WCP right away without offending the superficial loss rules?

Q: This morning I saw an analyst downgrade on ADN. Considering the huge bull run in lumber price, i am a bit skeptical of this call. I understand that the dividend is currently not covered, since they shut down capacity to save on cost during Covid crash. But still, being a cyclical stock, this is part of the game. What would be your take?
Q: Hi, what are your thoughts about the company? They skyrocketed over the last week or so but it seems to me all speculations. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts and whether I should sell now or hold. Thank you!
