Q: Further to my Aug 2 question, I did consider XRE but RIT seems the better choice as it has superior returns for all time periods, admittedly at more than double the MER. In case I decide that increasing my company count is OK would you please recommend your top 5 choices for direct company investment.

Q: Medical Laboratories and medical testing clinics seem largely to be owned by private corporations. Is this correct ? If so, which publicly traded corporations may be positioned to acquire private medical labs or to make other investments in the medical testing field ?

Q: what are your current thoughts on Pulse Seismic for a 3-5 year hold. the company recently announced a large sale.

Again, thank you for your logical answers to my previous questions.

In the 60s, a self-made, wealthy graduate of the Benjamin Graham, Columbia University program which warren Buffett praises, recommended that investors keep half of their portfolio in cash. When the market drops 10%, he recommended that they use a third of that cash to buy stock bargains. Today, that would be a US market index ETF. If the market drops another 10%, he recommended that they use all their cash to buy bargains, again, say a US market index ET. And if the market drops another 10%, he recommended the investors margin their portfolio fully.

I would appreciate your views on this seemingly risky approach to investing money not needed for near-term use.

Q: I am down 15% on cuf.un and am thinking of bailing on this co. but with the new financing, maybe worth keeping? I like it for the dividend and half would still be acceptable over a long term or are there more fundamental problems. Thanks James

Q: My son is in his early 20s and building a portfolio based on your balanced portfolio. He currently holds 11 stocks. He has no industrials, communications and only TOY in the consumer space. We are thinking of selling ADN from his TFSA and replacing it with SIS or PBH as we know you recommend growth stocks in a TFSA. He also has MX in the material sector. Is this a good plan, not necessary, or do you have another suggestion from the above list that you think is better? Thanks

Mastec Inc, an US company reported qrt earnings last night, raised its 2017 guidance, share went up after market trading. Today early trading its share went up more then 3.50 or 8%, but later it reversed to fall and ended up 3.00 drop in share price or 6.5%

I am holding this stock, and need your help to enlighten me what is the reason for the share price reversal.
Pls also give your thought for the outlook of this company.

Q: Mastec reported a record quarter with eps of .99 against an estimate of 0.62 and increased its guidance as well. The stock spiked 7% but is now in a downward drift trading below the pre release prices. Could you direct me to any information or news that would help explain this downward pressure? Also, do you have an opinion on this company? Would you buy at these levels?

Q: I don't have any US exposure and would like to add 10% of my portfolio to ZWH in my Cash account (non registered). Are the dividends eligible for the dividend tax credit? Are they paid in US funds and would there be any withholding tax? Do you have a better suggestion to get US exposure with a decent yield.

Q: With the latest trend to electric vehicles it would seem that cobalt producers would be an attractive investment. However, my effort in finding an ETF or even a major producer specializing in cobalt hasn't gone well.

ORT stopped trading a few months back. I have a small holding left in this. Is there any possibility of this stock trading again and if not what is the procedure to have this removed from your account?

Q: In a diversified RRSP account I have 10% industrials with positions in XTC, ZCL, NFI, and MG. Have been patient with XTC and can remain so, but do own MG already. The account is more growthy given time to need. Looking for a second opinion on my thought to swap XTC for DOO/CAE/BYD. Would you make the switch? If so to witch name? I don't trade a lot but do watch the names and account fairly closely.
