Q: I am helping my in-laws take ownership of their investments. Presently, they have the majority of their funds managed by banks/'financial advisors' in high fee mutual funds. Q: Hi, ATD stock is considered as One of the Best compounders in Canada and is strongly liked at 5i, for a long term ownership. Shares dropped sharply today after soft results, due to lower fuel margins ( It was expected and analysts believe these margins could be volatile and turn any time ) and sequentially lower SSSG, caused by reduced foot traffic ( Inflation impacting purchasing power of consumers ).

Do you believe that above issues could be resolved over time and the sell-off is presenting a buying opportunity to accumulate more shares ?

Q: How safe is something like CASH or PSA? I know they invest in the deposit accounts of banks and credit unions and are not protected by CDIC. But what is the worst case scenario? That one of the banks fails? Just trying to determine how much of a safety difference there is between these and a GIC. Thanks!

Q: BNS - Stock Charts on 05/28/24 as the next earnings, Yahoo Fin. has 03/01/24 as ex div. payment. The question is, if I sell on 03/02/24 will I receive the div.

LMN - I'm thinking of buying more of this stock. It appears to me that this is a good time, for it has traded sideways for the last week.
Question what is the outlook for this stock in 24/25 yrs.

PRL - Bruce Murray was on BNN Mar 19/24 and commented about Propel Holdings Inc. PRL-TSX. I checked on Yahoo Fin. and they indicated full year earnings 7 days ago beat expectations, but it doesn't appear the market was not impressed. What can you tell me about this company. Yahoo indicated some red flags.
So I would greatly appreciate your input.

Q: Here is another take on WELL:

Adjusted gross margin 43.7 % down from 51.3%

Adjusted net income $52.4 million down from
$ 53.7 million

Adjusted free cash flow $42.4 million down from $ 48.9 million.

I am in the camp of Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger who dismiss EBITDA. If you’re going to give a financial number before interest , for instance, you may as well exclude salaries ( or anything else for that matter ) as well.

I own WELL but will keep a closer eye on it. Please shot holes in my thoughts. Thanks. Derek

Q: Federal budget is April 16th. and the NDP is proposing the capital gains percentage to change from 50 % to 75%.Since the NDP seem to be running the government these days and Liberals always looking for more money to spend, what would your guess this may happen ?

Q: Wealthsimple approached me with an 0.5% cash offer on the totality of my investments if i moved my accounts with them. The accounts - Cash non reg, + TFSA + RRSP are being transferred in kind. They tell me that they ELASTIC N V ORDINARY SHARES (in my RRSP) cannot be held at wealthsimple. I either have to liquidate the shares and maintain the transfer, or leave the shares in my RRSP at my current institution (investorline)

The ESTC shares are down 20% in my RRSP. so can't harvest a loss.

How would you proceed? If you decide to sell the shares, what would you move into? I am very tech heavy, but enjoy the risk and the rich rewards that come with being tech heavy,

If replacing, i was looking at some securities that took big hits recently AMD, LULU.

Any compelling ideas? Please advise, Thank you.
