Q: How tied to interest rates are the fortunes of POW? Trying to decide between POW and rate reset ENB.PR.T as an income pick. Which would you choose? Thanks Ron
Q: Hi. Can you comment on Power Corporation's Q1 results? I am thinking of reducing my weighting on banks by 2% by taking a small tax loss on CM and investing in POW for the dividend and hopefully some decent growth.
I understand that weightings are a personal decision, and refer to the following for context for my position in Financials. I currently have a 9% weighting in CDN banks (TD, BNS,CM); 6% with CDN insurers (SLF, MFC); 2.5% with FSZ, and 4% with GSY. I am up significantly on GSY and am looking to trim it back in the future.

Q: Hi 5i,
I'm concerned with all the sabre rattling leading to a US/China trade war. Of particular concern are American companies that are needing China as the engine for growth. 1. Do you think this is a valid concern? 2. Would you position your portfolio more domestically/defensively for a trade war? 3. What would be some good alternatives to these three companies that are more domestic (or Western) centric for growth?
TIA!

Q: I currently hold GUARDANT, ALTERYX and ROKU in one account. As a basket they collectively just can’t seem to stay above water. Are you still optimistic on these names or has your opinion changed? Should I remain patient or would you swap any for VEEV?
Q: Every so often I read an article which mentions “bail-in”. I would like you to explain this process and how it would affect an investor from being invested in stocks, banks as well as other companies, to holding cash. I currently have a healthy cash balance and am waiting for the markets to stabilize before I make more investments. Thank you.
Q: Announced another dividend today. Would 5i say this is appropriate to continue the dividend in this environment and what is the current short position on the stock? Thx
Q: I'm curious your thoughts about converting to USD at this time.
I typically convert my RSP contributions to USD through Norbert's Gambit and buy US ETFs. With the very low dollar I'm wondering if it would be better to buy a similar hedged etf in CAD and then covert it later when (if) the dollar improves. The Canadian portion of my portfolio is held in my TFSA so everything in my RSP would be better in USD to avoid the withholding tax. I don't plan to access the funds in my RSP for 25 - 30 years. Thanks for your help.

Q: Bloomberg Businessweek of May 4, 2020 has an article "Tock to Go Brings Fine Dining To the Socially Distant" in which mentioned that Tock is a comprehensive platform built to fundamentally change the way restaurants think about and run their business. This includes a robust reservation, guest, and table management system for restaurants of all sizes across the globe. It sounds a very powerful platform for the industry mentioned. I am not sure if Tock has a stock. If it does, will it be a competitor to LSDP?

Q: Read in today newspaper that China might "elicit damaging retaliation aimed at U.S. technology companies that depend on sales to China, such as Qualcomm". I hold a position in QCOM which is now breakeven. Now wondering - sell this position to avoid a possible headache?....What say you?.....Tom
Q: Buy selling or hold
Q: Dear 5i
This is probably a silly question but here goes . When the US indexes all rise as they are today and the TSX is closed , does that mean all the ETFs and CD stocks I hold on the TSX ( which include US stocks in some of the ETFs) miss out on all the gains , or does it take until the next trading day on the TSX to actually see those gains?
Thanks
Bill C

Re my question:
I keep having to trim my tech sector. Perhaps I should sell a couple of names instead of just trimming? Would you please arrange these best to last? Many thanks.

Q: Would you be aware of any plans for a Nasdaq listing for KXS? Currently, there appears to be a listing on the 'pink sheets' only with minor trading volume.
I would also appreciate your assessment of the stock and its current growth potential.
Thank you, Team!

Q: There are apparently class-action suits being launched against Revera and Sienna relating to covid deaths in their homes. Before long this may well involve Extendicare and Chartwell at a guess. How meaningful to a company's future would you expect these suits could be? Are there any legal precedents (re: alleged lack of proper patient/resident care) involving senior homes in Canada? I have held both Chartwell and Sienna for years, and done well with them up until all this. I have reduced both by about half, but do you think it is just better to exit this sector for now?
Thank-you
Thank-you
Q: I'm looking at buying gold bullion etf and try to decide between CGL.C and PHYS which has a slightly lower expense ratio. What's the plus and minus for each of these ETFs and what will be your preference and why? Thanks for sharing your insight.
