Q: I hate it when companies do “bought deals” at prices lower that market price. I understand why they do it but it feels like a blindside. Companies do not care for the shareholders.
The little guy always feels the pain and then the stock is dead money for several months until the deal is closed or longer.
5I is just guessing they will buy another company, no one knows for sure.
My questions are:
1. Why would SIS-t have to “clean up the balance sheet” prior to buying another company? It’s such a small deal. Is there something wrong with the balance sheet?
They did not do this for previous purchases. (H.E.S. Elevator or was it Visilift) or did they, I may have missed it? Is there another reason for this deal? Isn’t the issue for more funds normally done at the same time or after a purchase instead of before?
2. SIS-t will be “dead money now”. Do you not believe that when a stock becomes “dead money” it would it not be better to place capital elsewhere until the stock moves up?
3. For bought deals, the little guy can’t participate in these types of issues if managing a self-directed account. How unfair is this?
4. I don’t usually look at financial reports for companies but this looks suspect.
The Annual Balance Sheet for Dec 31, 2017 shows:
“ Intangibles” = $100.49C$Mil. versus less than 12.05 mil in previous years
Why is it much higher than the preceding 3 years? Can you explain what this is? And should we be worried?

Q: Hi 5i,
Thoughts on the offering by SIS. Is it rare for insiders to participate in an offering like this?
Thank you,
David

Q: I currently own in my RRSP the following stocks : GUD, KXS, SLF, SIS, AQN (1/2) and FTS (1/2). I have 6K$ that I would like to add to only two or three of those stocks to avoid too much trading costs.
I have a longterm timeframe (20years +) for my RRSP and am diversified across my other accounts.
I was thinking of KXS, SLF and SIS first, but utilities also look quite cheap to me these days.
What would be your selection? I'd rather not add a new position to avoid having to many...

Q: Hello Peter,
On your april 9th reply to QSR, the dividend that was indicated was above 3 percent; I am seeing a dividend of 1.9 percent on google. Any idea? Also, I am planning to keep QSR , GUD, SIS, ADW.A, Shop, and Spot as long term holds. Any concerns here? My weights range from 2 to 4 percent. Lastly, I I know you have had lots of questions on Knight, but from a shareholders perspective, are we not waiting along time to get some results that are meaningful to increase stock price? What are the analysts saying about Knight as I am sure their clients are not happy with the stock price. Thanks again for the great input.

Q: If I am correct, insiders own a lot of absolute software. What other companies would you recommend buying based on how much stock insiders own which would align them with shareholders and that is good value right now.

Q: Hello:
With all of the news of trade wars, is it an appropriate time to sell SIS and MG due to their volatility related to this topic?

Q: Added positions in SIS and SJ today on the dip. Any other really good buying opportunities off the list in the portfolio (dont need energy or financials) with the current volatility. SIS and SJ where on my add next list and hadn't really made a plane beyond those...
Q: A BNN guest recently made mention of a European competitor that may soon enter the NA marketplace that could severely impact Savaria's business, to the point where a friend of his considers SIS a short (I think this is also in part due to its valuation). Are you aware of any such threat on the horizon? Does Savaria have any kind of moat or special advantage that might insulate it from new (presumably established & high quality) competition?
Q: Is there any negative news for savaria causing the price drop today?

Q: Hi team,
I'm putting money towards my TFSA (10K) and was wondering what you think would be the best way to invest it. I was considering starting with 5 stocks: PBH, SIS, CSU, KXS, TOY. My second thought was choosing 2-3 of those stocks and adding in ETF's. Thirdly, I was thinking to invest investing fully into ETF's. I would say that I'm in between balanced and growth in terms of risk.
What are your thoughts? And if the ETF route, which would you recommend?
Thanks in advance,
Jon

Q: My son wants to start a TFSA. I have suggested he begin with 5 stocks. Has about 57.K to invest. How do you feel about the number of stocks and the ones listed ? Many Thanks
Q: Please provide reasoning for short trades on SIS? Please also provide some rationale of assets growing faster than revenue. I like the company and have invested behind it however starting to look a little lofty.
Q: What are your thoughts on selling WSP Global for Savaria?
Looking for more dividend growth (revenue and earnings as well).
WSP's earnings didn't look as good as Savaria's did.
Thank you,
Adam
