Q: Please rate these energy companies in order of your best choice for growth in the next 2 years.

Q: Hi Team,
TOI has had a rough couple days. Today as of writing down another 5%. At $62 a share today would you consider this a great buy? Is there any news that is making the stock drop extra bad today compared to some other tech stocks that are rallying some today? Also...even though oil is more in favour in todays market, would you consider selling some of either WCP, BTE, or TVE to buy into TOI weakness? And would you consider TOI a better long term hold than an oil stock? Thanks

Shane.

Q: Can I please get your outlook on the energy sector, and the holdings above- how would you rank them for a 1 year hold, would the ranking change for a 5 year hold?
There is the view that energy will come back to represent a larger % of the index again.

Q: Can you rank the above "cheap" Canadian Oil and Gas companies according to 12 month growth potential with the assumption of >$80 WTI and >$7 MMBtu Nat Gas (NYMEX) price ?

Q: Peter and Co, I am looking for a Canadian energy company that has good upside as well as large tax losses that could be used to offset any potential windfall taxes in Canada. I already have reasonable positions in CVE, VET, TOU and HWO.
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: Hi Peter/Ryan, I'm aware that CPG is not one of your favorites yet it's still up there. BTE seems to be a bit slower. I don't have any oil exposure so of the two which might be a better bet for a bit more upside and not for a long term hold. Thanks

Q: Greetings - Considering the impressive returns from the energy sector last year, the leadership of the sector so far this year, the current supply demand scenario for oil , the likelihood of greater US production, geopolitical realities, and what we might see in the next 3 to 6 months (insofar as there is any clarity that far out) 1. Is energy a 5 or 6 year investment or more likely a shorter term trade. 2. Does it seem to you that the oil price is more likely to continue to climb throughout the next 6 months rather than to recede. 3.Which 3 of these 8 listed securities offers the best upside and which 3 the least risk and thirdly if you had to pick just one to buy a full position of today which one of the eight would you personally click the buy button on and would you be comfortable doing so at the current price.
Thank you for the input - Ken

Q: The listed oil and gas companies comprise a 4% weight in my portfolios. I have been dying in oil and gas for about a decade. However, not counting the capital losses I have taken over the years, the current portfolio of legacy and new acquistions is miraculously above water. I have promised myself to never again be so exposed to the world's most manipulated commodity. If I'm going to folow though on this self-promise I need to think about liquidating some of these positions. Question: in what order would you take down these positions?
Best wishes for 2022. David

Q: I need to sell 2 of the above companies tied to the energy sector as a tax loss for 2021.
I am assuming WTI will rise to $85.00. Which 2 would be your choice. Would you endorse Tax loss/Rebuy strategy after 30 days for any of these securities.
Best Regards,
Harold

Q: Hello Peter & Team,

Read your Aug 4 BTE answer. Everything sounded fairly positive - reasonable cash flow generated with good expectations moving forward, debt was reduced, and you had a generally positive outlook although you did comment "we would prefer it (debt) lower."

Being just ahead of 3rd quarter reporting along with general sentiment oil could once again reach upwards to $100, I was thinking now would be a good time to add a position. I have 2010 - 2013 in mind when I did extremely well last time oil was $100+.

Do you think this is a good idea or a bad idea and why? And do you think we will see $100?

Thanks for all you do

gm
