Q: Dear5i
I have either ETF or individual stock investments in all the major exchanges
except for the Dow Jones . Do you think it would be prudent to have some Dow representation or is the Tsx , S&P500 and nasdaq sufficient ? I understand that ZDJ is an ETF on the DOW but i`m not sure if being Canadian hedged is a good idea now . Your thoughts ?
Also i know this is a geopolitical question but would appreciate your thoughts .The Ukraine/Russia war seems to be an additional source for supply chain disruption especially with regards to commodities , which in turn drives inflation which in turn drives interest rates higher . My question i guess would be what`s your best guess as to what percentage the war has to do with inflation and rising interest rates . In other words does the war have to come to an end to see any real and sustained improvement in inflation and therefore rising rates ?
As always thanks for your input , much appreciated .
Please deduct the appropriate credits .

Q: Hi Peter,

I am fortunate enough to have added the following big tech names to my portfolio recently. I currently do not hold an ETF although have been considering SPY as I have about 20k US at my disposal. Or take advantage of other big names currently on sale?

Do you feel there’s better ETF’s since I currently have full positions of it’s top 5 holdings?

Thanks

Q: I have significant tax losses on NFI and am considering selling to use those losses. On the other hand if we go into recession that should help with the supply issues NFI is facing and they have a large book of orders from government bodies who should be able to pay for their orders. Do you see NFI as overvalued at this time in which case I will sell or undervalued and I should hold on in case we enter recession? Thanks for your input.

Q: If I hold BAM.A in my US account and they proceed with the spin out, will the new entity end in my Canadian account, and do you think there is a generally conversion fee for that?

Thanks.

Q: Hello Peter,

Your thought on adding one of the above names to my portfolio. I hold a bit of WBD from the AT&T spin-off and is ready to trade it with another stronger performer. Thank you!

Q: Hi Team
Would you take a position in VCLT ? I believe it is yielding around 4.8%
Or is there a high default risk on the Corporate Bonds.
I noticed a lot of the bonds were rated BBB
Thanks Gord

Q: Of my pipeline holdings, these 3 companies occupy ENB40%/TRP38%/PPL22% respectively. Ironically, over the last 5 years share price-wise, ENB has done the worst, and PPL the best. I would like to add a bit more to the group and normally I would start with PPL so to balance the three. I would appreciate your thoughts on the future of these 3 or any other alternative options and given the splits, which would you choose? Also, would you say that moving NG is the better longer term bet vs oil?
