Q: Hi, for an rrsp acct. who do like for 4years+ . I think maybe MFC and SLF would be similar, but not sure about BAMR? Would it be the better choice for growth? Dividend is always nice but not necessary.
Thanks
Q: I am wondering if the recent $65M debenture deal is significant.
Is well looking at another significant acquisition or is it simply to meet the request of a major investor ?
I have to crystalize some losses to offset gains. I have a substantial position in ABCL (-56%) and BHC (-78%) and can sell either completely and be done with offsetting the gains. Do you suggest I do that or should I get rid of SDGR (-23%), BMBL (-38%) and PENN (-23%) as well ,if ABCL is worth holding onto, at least partially?
I know other than BHC, they all do have a good bounce potential after the tax-loss season is over. However, I also know that something like BMBL or even ABCL may be broken stories and may take a very long time to recover.
I appreciate it if you can share in which order you would sell and why (if you could kindly include the main reason for each).
Q: My question is about convertible debenture. What are they? What is the difference between a good one or a bad one? For instance, exchange income corp. Just put one out at 5.25%
Thx
Q: For example, I have 200 TD shares at a cost of $50 EA in my cash account with Questrade. I have built this up over the last few years. I have NOT done anything at Tax Time, re: Div Tax Credit, Gross Up, etc. Should I be doing something? Each year I simply filed my Tax return based on what Questrade sent to me & the CRA.
Q: This is not a question. Just sharing. Was thinking that taking profits is hard because after you sell and the stock continues to go up you miss out on more profits.
Have you looked at this company recently? My sense is that once Taiga starts to deliver their electric snowmobiles into the recreational market the stock price will begin to lift significantly. I would appreciate your current thoughts on this company.
Q: Good morning. I have VALE in my registered account, with a much lower value than cost. It does pay a substantial dividend and I am aware that it also has cash. Is it reasonably safe to hold since materials are doing fairly well generally? Should I consider reducing my position or selling? Is it safe to hold with its high dividend at this time?
Q: I am down significantly in the above three stocks. 43 any of these worth holding or is it time to take the loss and move. Where should I invest Although I am also down on well health, I could add to it and average down.
Thanks
Q: Hello,
Out of the three companies, can you please provide which one is a better buy and why? New Flyer seems to get contracts, but i am assuming their update on supply chain issues and now an offering is holding the stock back. However, would appreciate your thoughts in which one you think will do well. Thanks very much.
A question yesterday asked to rank some stocks -appears you are warming up to Viatris? Some commentators worry about drugs coming off patent - some say it is so cheap it should be re rated? Safe for a long term hold with dividend and done growth?
Q: What is your take on Manulife’s recent announcement that it will shed $2B of its US variable annuity business and using the majority of the proceeds for share buybacks? It seems the markets are pleased but is this a good business decision for the long term? I am concerned that by prioritizing share buybacks management is taking a shortcut to earnings growth rather than actually growing revenues and profits. I guess your preference to SLF’s management in the past has me extra cautious.
Q: These three stocks along with cash , are equally held and is my entire TFSA. This represents only 2.5 % of my combined non registered account and RRSP ( RIF next year).
My feeling ( and performance )on the stocks are :
AC: ( Even )Covid rebound extent still in question, high oil prices a drag
EIF: ( Up ) solid dividend, owned long time with good results
EGLX: ( Up ) , most volatile, doing the right things in a growing sector
Am willing to take a fair degree of risk. Your opinion on the portfolio is appreciated. How would you adjust and what are some of your recommended stocks ? Thanks. Derek
Q: Hi Everyone!! They halted trading of the stock today. I think they were selling shares to raise money to take care of debt and get more working capital. What are your thoughts on this? Is this a positive move for the company and is it customary to halt trade when this sort of thing is happening? Cheers, Tamara
