Q: I have owned Theratechnologies since 2018 and watched this stock fall since I purchased it. The stock has been rising the last few weeks and was up 23% on Friday. I couldn't find any exciting press releases that would explain the increase. Do you know of any reason for the recent increase?

The 5 analysts listed on Qtrade have a price target of anywhere from $5.50-$12.04. How much faith can we put in the price targets of analysts?

I was quite excited that it was up to $3.03 but just noticed there was a 4 for 1 stock split in August 2023 so my 700 shares are now only 175 shares. So rather than being down 60% I am actually down 90%. Yikes, I better not tell my wife about this trade!

My holdings in TH are only worth $530 now. Should I sell this loser now or is it worth waiting until the annual report (November year end) comes out?

Q: If gold appreciates significantly in the next few years, would you buy bullion wafers/coins or shares in quality companies such as Agnico Eagle or Franco Nevada?
With appreciation,

Q: Hi Team,
could you rate these companies for a 3-5 years horizon considering I am looking for income and capital preservation but a bit of capital growth would also be good...

Thank you

Q: Hello, I have the following in my TFSA: GIB.A, OTEX, NVEI, KXS, DSG, DOL, NXR.UN, with more or less the same weight. I am under water with NVEI, KXS, NXR.UN. Should I just sell OTEX, DSG and GIB.A and buy XIT instead and wait for NVEI and KXS to break even before selling them and buy XIT? I know XIT has 50% in SHOP and CSU and 5i likes CSU very much. I am less sure about SHOP. What is your opinion of SHOP for a long term hold? I did not fully understand their recent change of strategy. FYI, I have US tech names in a cash account, that’s why I am looking at CDN names in my TFSA. Thanks.

Q: 3 years ago I divided my pension 50/50 between MFS Global Equity and Schroder Emerging Markets in an effort to increase my international exposure. I had been 100% in the MFS Global Equity Fund and would have been much better off had I stayed there. I have a couple of options as I see it:

1) Move back to 100% MFS Global Equity Fund (portfolio drops to 20-25% international)
2) Stay the course (portfolio stays at 30% international)
3) #1 plus allocate some non-registered funds to an international ETF to get portfolio back to 30% international (suggestions?)

Q: Fellow 5i members: i'm interested in reading about your best allocation of capital (other than stock purchases) which has created value in your life beyond your investment account. After all, bettering our life quality is why we began investing in the first place. I've just created a thread under Forums..Non-investment topics. I titled it 'Best Spending ideas 2024'. I believe that our large community of prosperous and like-minded people has alot of good ideas to share. I've shared a few of my best allocations of capital in the thread. I invite you to spend a few minutes sharing and lets get the conversation started so we can learn from one another.

Q: I have recently received $100,000 and as I have maxed out my TFSA, RRSP and RESP contributions for 2024 I will be depositing this into my cash/taxable account. I am looking for tax-efficient growth stocks. As capital gains are taxed lower I am looking for growth with no or low dividend.

Can you suggest 5 - 6 companies?

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Q: I have small positions in TOI, NVEI, SIS, TOY and WELL in a TFSA, and am considering

Please rate these stocks in terms of growth prospects and indicate how much patience might be required.
Thanks.

Q: Dear 5i,
Could you please add this new US listed ETF: Cambria's MYLD
Could you also please provide your high level thoughts on it's investing strategy to gain exposure to micro and small caps stocks. AUM is low at 2.5M but it headed by Meb Faber who is fairly well known in the investment community. He uses a similar strategy for Cambria's other shareholder yield products; SYLD, FYLD, EYLD

Q: Hello,
Happy New Year; is Electrovaya worth stepping into or is it still too risky? Knight seems to have perked up a bit. Is the launch of the drug causing the small surge and is it something noteworthy or will this be another slow rise and than fall back to the 5 dollar level? Much appreciated.

Q: Hi There,

Which 2-3 Canadian companies would you be adding to with your TFSA contribution this year?

Thanks

Q: Hi, Technology sector had a great 2023 and most Large/Mid cap Co stocks on both sides of the border saw outsized gains. Kinaxis, in the group appears to be an outlier and continues to be a laggard. Descartes Systems, which, I believe, operates in similar Logistics/Supply Chain management solutions, has performed quite well and apparently not impacted by the challenges faced by KXS.

What, in your view, are the factors contributing to this underperformance and are these issues transitory? You have recommended to hold on to this stock due to zero/low debts, strong customer base and its highly successful/unique programs for the industry. What are the catalysts and the basis of your recommendation, despite stock's continued poor performance ? There is a cost to Capital for an investor and may be, it's time to move on and look for better opportunities and more efficient deployment of funds.

Thank You

Q: Montrose Env in NY provides environmental services. It was $76 about 15 months ago and now around $30. Can you give my your assessment on this small cap (0.8B) has a 15.9 P/E. Q3-2023 total revenue was $168 which Q3-2022 was $ 130. They appear to have had losses each of the past few years. It appears to have gone public mid-2020. I'd be grateful for your views on this small cap stock.

Q: I currently hold all these stocks, with the exception of elf. I came up with the thanks in large part to 5i as these are names that have come up in various Q&As. If you had to pick only 10 to hold long term (which for me is 1 year), what would be your ten? The 10 should be those that are the best expected performs regardless of diversification or risk. Just the top 10. Alternately., would you suggest holding them all but with different weightings and if so please comment on a suggested weighting.

My plan was to hold 10 with 10% in each but I’m not married to that idea.

Thank you kindly.

Jason
