Q: If you had 100,000 CAD cash to deploy, what are your top picks from your Growth/Balanced Equity portfolios you might consider buying today. Especially interested in you helping me identify the ones getting hammered these days with the current market volatility.

Q: I am in a loop of indecision and would appreciate guidance. I am retired and for the past year i have been self-directing a portion of my assets while the balance sits in cash. I am now ready to start to deploy my remaining capital into the market. I am looking at a medium risk profile and would like to derive income from the portfolio in the next two years. I get stuck on how to allot and diversify my portfolio. Can you please comment on this general approach.
14% finance, 14% energy, 14% materials, 14% industrials, 7% utilities, 9% communication tech, 9% defensive consumer, 9% consumer discretionary, 5% real estate, 5% healthcare. I will use a combination of stocks and ETF's. Thanks.

Q: Is an update for the "Canadian Stocks That Pay US Dividends" blog planned? - the current list is 2 years old containing names like ECA (now OVV and Denver based) and BHC which I show as having no dividend. Others like BEPC and BIPC could be added and the list might be amended to include current yield to be more useful to income investors. They may be other adds or deletes too...

Does your information suggest that either of TIMB or VINP have the financial and marketing wherewithal to be strong long-term choices? Q: Please name 5 companies in the USA and Canada that you think the market has punished unfairly in this tech sell off. Aggressive names with compelling fundamentals and huge growth opportunities would be the focus regardless of sector with a nod to companies with a 10 billion market cap or less. These would be companies in which the downside is fully priced in but nobody is giving them any credit for projected growth (and you believe that growth potential is substantial). If you could then pick your favourite from these in the US and Canada and add one sentence as to why I would be most appreciative!
