Q: Hello. I’ve been holding Magna for a couple of years and the stock is down 44%. It represents 1.2% of my portfolio. Would you recommend selling and if so what is another stock in the same sector that might offer a better potential?

Q: Hi, what was the reason for the 18% drop on July 11th and can you comment on if this represents a good entry point?
Thanks,

Q: I am a senior holding CDZ, ZLB & ZSP plus around 20 individual stocks. I am hoping to streamline my portfolio to 3 ETFs plus a few favourite stocks. I'm ok with CDZ and ZSP, but I wonder if I should switch to ZCN for much of my Canadian portion rather than ZLB. Have you a suggestion as to which would be more appropriate in my late retirement portfolio? I'm not looking for international investment nor for fixed income. Many thanks.

Q: We have held BCE for many years in a RRIF account, generally for income (position size about 2%). Yes the dividend is great and likely to continue, but our position is now showing an unrealized loss close to 25%. I am thinking of selling and moving on to another opportunity that will provide better growth and returns. Comments please. Maybe the money is better placed in GOOGL, also in the communications sector? Or possibly into another USA dividend position? In our two RRIF's we hold ABBV, MSFT, PAGP, BTI. Rio Tinto, along with Canadian companies: MFC, WCP, BNS, TD, LIF, BIP.UN, AD.UN and USCL (for income). Growth may be a higher priority than income. Overall portfolio weightings for all six accounts combined is approximately 50% Canadian and 50% USA plus International. RRIF accounts are relatively small in value compared with non registered accounts

Q: Dear 5i
Is now a good time to invest in the emerging markets ? I'm considering ZEM , VEE , and XEC .Which would you recommend for an RRSP account? Do you really think there is a major shift to small cap stocks currently and if so do you see it continuing for awhile ?
Thanks
Bill C

Q: Hello 5i,
I am 27 years old. I have approx. $100,000 to start a portfolio. I have established with two positions thus far - 5% each in ATZ & BAM. Considering my age, what companies would you suggest I add keeping in mind my focus being a long term growth with a set-it-and-forget-it strategy?
If possible I would like some good dividend generation names which hopefully do not sacrifice some reasonable capital gains.
If you could suggest which of the recommendations would be better suited (tax wise) to put into my TFSA and why that is so, that would be appreciated.
Thank you Peter & Team

Q: The Telcos are doing very poorly and I have them on a DRIP program. Should I take the dividends in cash instead and invest the funds in more promising opportunities rather than increasing exposure to this poorly performing sector.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: Hi, i have a question relating to increase energy demand from Ai.
Most Belief is that with the increase use of Ai there will be significant demand of energy. But at the rate of our technological advance and improvement of efficiency would it not reduce the energy needed for ever newer chips develop in the future. Therefore it would not have a significant impact on utilities and Renewable companies in the longer term. Can i have your opinion on this? Thank You

Q: Paul asked today if PRL's dividend has been increasing in proportion to its income increases, or are they increasing the payout ratio. In your answer, you mentioned the dividend is up by 30% compared to last year at this time, but you didn't compare this to the income increase. PRL had an 84% income increase in 2023 compared to 2022, and in Q1 of 2024, the income was up 77%, so in fact they have been DECREASING the payout ratio, as the income has been increasing at a much faster rate than the dividend.
