Q: After receiving a t3 from a high dividend paying etf I was a bit suprised to see a bit over 60% of the distribution was Return of Capitol - as I see it basically getting my own $ back on that 60% portion. Sitting with my accountant I walked away with more questions than answers, for instance would a pure play dividend stock paying half the yeild as this etf be a better investment, what happens if I hold this for years and my intitial investment is returned, do I still get the 10% distribution? Is the ROC a mute point if this etf is held, in a registered account? I realize these questions may not be in your area of expertise, also am thinking many people are buying these high paying ETF's not realizing a big portion of the advertised yield is ROC.

Q: I'm new here and am looking to increase my international exposure. Can you recommend a few international ETFs that don't have US exposure and some that include it as part of their holdings? Should I look to these ETFs to include exposure to both established and emerging markets or strictly more developed countries? I'm looking at investing between 30% of my portfolio as I already own QQQ which represents approximately 12% of my holdings now). Thank you in advance, Elaine.
Q: Hi All At 5i!
I have both stocks, but have held MTL longer and am 25% up. Is one stock better in its long term forecast than the other? Would it be worth while keeping both, or consolidating?
Cheers,
Tamara

Q: Hi 5i
Given the announced deal setting the take over price at around $ 46 canadian, can you explain what is happening with the day to day sp fluctuations? Seems to be heading down with heavy volume.....seems strange......Other than opportunity cost of holding, in the short term, do you see this continue to slide lower?
Thx

In my RRSP account which is well diversified - I am looking at selling some ENB and topping up my position in either VISA or APPLE. May I have your opinion as to which one you think would be best at this time.

Q: Do you think now would be a good time to start a position in magna?
Q: hi and thanks
should one be concerned with the downturn ATD is going through right now? Is it maybe related to the outlook for energy and the transition from gasoline to electric? ATD is facing big costs going forward converting or adding charging stations.
thanks Joe

-
Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ $43.81)
-
BCE Inc. (BCE $35.03)
-
TELUS Corporation (T $22.46)
Q: Does the decline in Telus and Bell have any similarities to the decline in AT&T and Verizon about 6 months ago? I note that the US telecoms staged a nice comeback since. Would you expect the same or are the stories different?

Q: have a nice move recently. thanks for flagging this company. do you see continued upside looking out 3 years.
Q: I didn't get a distribution from QTIP this past month. Any reason why this bond ETF would skip a payment? It's not the first time they did that.
Q: Any reason for SHOP big price drop today ( Wednesday ) ? Thanks a lot.
Q: hi, can I get your thoughts on the price action of BEPC. today down over 3%? any reason? was there a large sell order by a large institution/investor? i may be biased, but I have seen quite a few days like today on this equity, which seems odd as it is not a growth name, more of a stable slow growth dividend grower? share price now below 2020. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this one, as a dividend grower, and slow-medium growth equity going forward. is there more beyond the effect of higher than before (but still pretty reasonable on a historical basis ) interest rates. and, do you see a theme in these cdn stalwart dividend companies ( eg banks, telcos, utilities) mismanaging things when rates were low, poor risk management etc, getting caught up in the frenzy of low rates and locking in bad management decisions? the hit on BEPC and all these seems excessive to me? appreciate your current thoughts.

Q: One of life's little mysteries. BMO Investor line shows me as having" interest income" from BIPC and BEPC but no dividends. These are not the limited partnership shares. BAM shows as paying dividends. I have a call into BMO but wonder if you can shed light on this. Many thanks Al
Q: Why the big drop on ELF?
Q: CashMoney, LendDirect parent company has filed for creditor protection. What is your interpretation of how this will impact Go Easy? Is it positive and why, or is it a watch out that problems exist in GSY which has been trading lower the last month? Thanks again - John C
Q: TVK has been on quite a run for the past year or so including a large bump after it's most recent M&A announcement.
Do you think investors should wait for a pull back or continue to consolidate a position and if so, what is a good point to continue buying?
I've missed the boat on HPS.A many times by waiting for the perfect moment so I feel TVK may be on a similar trajectory albeit at lower rates of growth most likely.
Thoughts on TVK and entry points etc?
