Q: Just following up on a question today regarding selling a stock in a non-registered account and buying it back in an RRSP or TFSA. I understand the superficial loss rules, but how would the CRA track a purchase in an RRSP if one’s RRSP trading records are not sent to them by one’s broker? My understanding from personal experience is that only non-registered account information is forwarded to the CRA.

Q: Half of my equities EPS growth from 2022 to 2024 is negative (ATD, LNF, QSR, PPL, SU, BNS). I did not include projected growth for 2025, 2026, 2027 as this seems excessively optimistic. Should I include at least 2025? Should I be worried? Most of them are doing well in spite of this. Any suggestions aside from hold tight and do nothing? These are all blue chip. 79 year old income, dividend value investor.

Companies that have a competitive advantage, great leadership, quality assets, not too high debt and continue to execute with continuous improvement. Could you give me what you consider to be the best Great US Companies for each sector or industry. Thank you.

Q: I have arranged my 41 stocks into their sectors. Within each sector I have tried to find their revenue growth, earnings growth, P/E, depth/capital, ROE, and price/ cashflow. I am trying to use the 5i website but many items are missing for various holdings such as for BIPC and BIP. As well, to fill in the missing numbers I tried TD, Morningstar and others. Much of the data from these sites is conflicting. One shows no earnings, another shows $2.90 EPS yet another shows $0.92 for the same company. When trying to find an average for each sector to use as a bench mark the situation is worse!

QUESTION: Would you indicate a site that offers these criteria for each sector. Take as many credits as required.

Q: I'm chiming in on retirement calculators - the CRA retirement calculator is an excellent tool, and very easy to use. The instructions are clear, and you can choose as many income streams as you have and for what years you will use them. I have built my retirement with several income sources - savings, RRSP, rental income, employment income, CPP and OAS, starting/stopping at various stages of retirement.
