Q: Hi Peter
I have read alternative investments as a way diversify the portfolio beyond stocks and bonds.
There appears to be many types of alternative investments and complicated too.
If one were to invest in alternative investments, do you have any recommendations on how to approach such investments?
Are there any ETFs in this space that simplifies the investment approach?
My purpose is for income with a bit of ongoing growth.

Q: Hi 5i,

Amongst other pricey cybersecurity companies, CHKP seems very reasonably valued. It it 'cheap for a reason', or is it a solid stock to pick up now?

Also, do you still like RPD after its recent report?

Is there anything else (besides CRWD) that you prefer in this space?

While interested in making a little extra money , I have also wanted to keep my life simple, so I have concentrated on selling covered call options and puts. Because of the crazy recent markets, though, i have been looking at other strategies. For instance the bull put strategy looks interesting. Wondering whether you think it is worth while for an average investor to put much into these other strategies

Q: My daughter has a Family RESP Account for our 2 grandaughters.
They are soon to be 16 and 13 years young.
Both, at this stage of the education game, appear to be headed to college or university.. I contribute monthly into the RESP plan for my grandchildren.
The original funds were invested in a Target 2025 mutual fund RBF1048, recently rename to RBF5731. This is showing an inception return of 4.4%. Since 2016 I have been investing this thru my Direct Investing Account. My present portfolio mix is about 98% equity Stock and is showing a return of 28%, since inception.
Finally to my question. Since the oldest Granddaughter will be attending post secondary education in the next 2 years and little.
What is your suggestion on how to split the total amount? Should I start investing more in fixed income?
Any other suggestions you have for a situation like this?

Q: Yesterday would have been Benjamin Graham's 128th birthday. Born in London on May 9, 1894, Graham founded the disciplines of security analysis and value investing, was Warren Buffett's mentor and wrote the classic book after which this newsletter is named.

Graham knew hardship. His father died when Ben was only eight years old, and the family business -- importing porcelain and decorative objects -- fell apart. His mother's brokerage account was wiped out in the Panic of 1907. Graham never forgot being sent to the bank as a boy and hearing the teller ask whether his mother was "good for five dollars."

Then, in and after the Crash of 1929, Graham's investment partnerships were almost wiped out. He went on to build one of the greatest investing track records of the 20th century, but he never forgot the lessons of loss:

Don't invest using borrowed money.
Never pay too much for the prospect of future profits.
Never count on greater fools to bail you out of reckless risks.
Above all, your results depend much less on how markets behave than on how you behave.
As fear fills the air and financial markets around the world continue to totter, do yourself a favor and read -- or reread -- what I consider the most important paragraph about investing Graham ever wrote. It may, in fact, be the most important paragraph about investing anyone has ever written:

Q: Happy Friday,

With the current dip and a further downside expected are there any income equities that you would classify as very attractive.

Looking for some new ideas. I have lots of banks, pipes, telcos, utilities, insurance cos, etc. but am not immune to buying more.

Anything in the US really strike you fancy?

Q: Hi 5i Team - GoGold has fallen off by about a third since March. Do you know of any reasons for this. I am considering purchasing a small position but am concerned about the downward momentum. Also are there any other junior golds with some production as well as exploration potential that you would recommend. Thanks.
