Q: HI 5I,

I have been reading, listening to my financial advisor and seeing some answers on your question blog that there may be an opportunity with bonds. I like ETF's the last while, so can you give me your advice on some ETF's that incorporate a high level of bonds that may see some upside if bonds were to have some capital appreciation. Thank-you

Q: In today's Larry Berman's BNN Educational segment, he referenced last Friday at 8:52 am...when the US Fed announced a "pivot", whereby they would probably raise rates by 0.75% this week but that they might slow down the rate hikes thereafter...my paraphrase wording.

Q: Last year's volatility on acuity ads (AT) rewarded me since I traded it three times for very nice gains. I kept a small amount of shares since I am playing with the house's money. I looked at today and it is down to $2.17 on the Canadian exchange so the market cap is only about $130 million. From what I can tell them seem to have at least $80 million of cash on the balance sheet. I know their ad revenue will go down if there is a recession but they still have about two thirds of their market cap covered by cash. That is protection, right? If the company can't find an acquisition why don't they do a substantial buy back? The only time I have found a company with such a large amount of cash was a little natural gas producer in New Brunswick called Corridor Resources. I made a few bucks trading on the seasonality and one day, when I didn't own any shares, someone came in and bought Corridor for a healthy premium. Could this happen to Acuity? Are they vulnerable to be acquired with so much market cap covered by cash on the balance sheet?

Q: Worth sticking with NFI for a recovery given their pre-announcement?

I'm not as worried about the supply chain issues, which will get resolved eventually, but by their covenant with their lenders. A couple of quotes from TD sources:
Quote: "The company has re-engaged with its lenders for
extended covenant relief."
Quote: "NFI expects to finish 2022 with >$500mm of liquidity but will be in breach of covenants given negative cumulative EBITDA condition. NFI is in negotiations for extended covenant relief but reiterated that it does not believe additional equity is required."

Will the banks give them "time to breathe"? The company is still the largest producer of buses in NA and UK... How bad is this situation? Stick with it or cut the loss?

Q: Hi,
Please take as many credits as you feel fit. Our portfolio is a hot mess. We’ve basically been ignoring this downturn for the past 6 months knowing we are are in for the long term. Retirement is 7-10 years out. The above holdings have fallen below a 1% weight in our portfolio. We have limited cash to deploy. Which of these would you add to? In what order? Any you would not add to and just hope that time allows for recovery? Any if these you would sell? For the ones that could be added too. Would you just buy now or put some stink bids in given the crazy volatility in markets? Any additional input is welcome.
