Q: Good Day,

Rough day in the markets Thursday. After mine and other questions, getting a sort of analysis paralysis trying to make the 'right' move. Some (potentially) attractive dips, and Looking to set up the accounts for the next couple months.

Current concerning holdings. Hold, Sell, or add?

ASPN
ATS
CELH
CRNT
CROX
SMCI
TMDX

For the adds and holds, please rank with the following names in terms of highest conviction and total returns in the coming year. Knowing you can't get personal, what would be the highest portfolio percentage you would think would be appropriate for each given the nature/stage of the lifecycle each is in?

GOOG NTR ATD LUG GAU AEM WPM BCE SHOP ISRG

Thanks for everything!

Q: Good Morning,

All things considered, would you rate SMCI a hold or sell today?

What do you think the likelihood is of it being de-listed from the Nasdaq? Would you wait to make a hold/sell decision until after next Tuesday's scheduled business update, or do you think there's not much that management can say to change the market's perspective on this stock?

Thanks,

Brad

Q: Regarding SCMI, how badly would their accounting have to be misstated before it was not attractive based on fundamental reasons? Looking at the current and forward P/E, it's relatively cheap for a good business in a great part of the market.

What if a company with a different name produced a quarterly report that showed SMCI's numbers in terms of growth and earnings but without any of the baggage and negative perception? What would 5i value this other entity at with current financials and for fun, what would 5i value it at if the numbers are revised to be 25% worse.

Thanks

Q: Hi Team,
I am a bit perplexed about why the last couple days NVDA has been trending down after earnings releases such as Meta, GOOG, Msft which all seem to show massive spending on AI. You would think this will translate into high demand for NVDA chips which hopefully will bold well for NVDA earnings. Any thoughts on the outlook here for NVDA earnings estimates? I assume the correct answer as usual will be to hold the stock into earnings. I am also surprised Meta and Msft are dropping after great earnings.

Thanks,
Shane.

Q: Dear Peter et al:

Your answer to Jacques' question that included SMCI is rather outdated now, right?! The question probably made its way to yur in box today!
No one expected such a deep drop this morning!

BUT at least one of the BIG heads has paid the price. Not sure if there is some more heads will roll besides the chief accountant.

Is the worst behind SMCI? At 35% growth as your answer indicates, worth nibbling here? Or does your "cockroach theory" still hold?!

Q: Good Morning,
I currently hold a small position in SMCI at the break even point. I’m considering selling SMCI and adding VRT or ISRG for a solid growth name. Is this a move that you would endorse, and if so, which one would you choose at current levels. Feel free to include any alternative names if you see fit.
Thank you,

Q: Good Day,

Edit: I got to the end of this and realize there is a lot to unpack here. My apologies and please forgive the transient nature of my ADD brain. Take however many credits you need.

I really enjoyed Jonathans question and your subsequent answer on Oct 10. Continuing on that thread, I too consider myself primarily a growth investor, and have a fairly high tolerance for risk. However, in contradiction (somewhat) to that, I also Love equities with a DRIP program.

I'm planning on making a significant contribution to my RRSP investment account to hopefully capitalize on some opportunities/ tax loss selling in the end of the year, and enjoying the tax break in April.

1. I think? I have a pretty solid basket of growth names, significantly from 5i recommendations. CALF CLBT CROX MSFT NVDA POWL SMCI TCS TMDX AMZN ASPN HPS LMN TVK VRT. In the growth space, Please provide 6 recommendations (CAD, US) ranked in decreasing order of preference that you would consider beneficial to these. If any of these current positions are in a very attractive place to add, you could suggest that with a why.

2. In the dividend/DRIP space, I have DE CHE.UN ZWT BAM SU PPL. About a month ago, I sold my BEP and BNS and rolled them in to my double up my BAM, which paid off, but am considering a re-buy. Reading the questions lately, you have been big on BNS and TD, but seem to contradict yourselves on it. Often recommending BNS over TD, only to recommend to someone that holds both to cut BNS over TD if only one is to be held. Are they that close in terms of future runway/room to grow/total returns? With my Love of DRIPs, would you give the edge to BNS due to the higher dividend? Could you recommend 3 - 5 options in this space, preferably holdings that would require less than 10K (20K for very high conviction) invested to DRIP a unit. ETFs are OK with low fees and higher Dividend.

3. In Jonathans question you commented on Materials being a great addition to a growth investors portfolio as a semi uncorrelated diversification. I've held LUN and LIF in the past, but with the power demands and resurgence of Nuclear, are there better options out there? Please provide 2-3 dividend paying and up to 5 growth options in this space.

4. Is GOOG a buy here? I fully agree that the impact was way overblown. Is it worth getting into one of the 2x leverage tickers for GOOG if ones conviction is very high? Is there any company you would consider a leveraged holding on? If so, which?

Thanks for everything!!!

Q: I have 20% of my TFSA in US $ and currently hold AXON and SMCI, split 40% and 60%. I am fine continuing with AXON in which I have a 40% gain) but have been dithering about SMCI. I did take some off the table at its highs (used to buy AXON) and there is still a 68% gain in the holding. I could (1) reduce the position and add to AXON - or add a 3rd holding ? ; (2) sell all of AXON or (3) just stay the course. Your arm's length comments would be appreciated as well as your thoughts on possible replacement - sector not an issue.
Many thanks, as always

Q: Hello 5i

I have held ULTA and SMCI (full positions) for about a year and am reconsidering them due to changes in forecast etc.
Could you suggest 5 alternate names in the US that project growth in the next 2-3 years?
They do not need to be sector specific just strong growth and good fundamentals.

Thank you tremendously for all you do!

Q: Hi,

With the stellar performance of NVDA over the last two years, what inning do you think they are in for future gains and what's the risk/reward setup? I'm up over 500% and NVDA is one of my top positions. I hear the AI revolution is just get started and its only 7pm and this party ends at 3am. As the AI revolution continues here, who are the top 4-5 companies that are next to benefit where they are trading at a fair valuation currently? Would it now be the software companies and enterprises? I can either continue to hold NVDA or thinking of occasionally trimming to buy some smaller companies that have more torque, such as PLTR (expensive) or CLS. Any other suggestions? Thank you!

Currently holding SHOP, CSU, CRWD, TOI, NVDA, LMN, INTU, VRT, SMCI, CLBT in tech.

Q: Hello Team,

Are you able to rank the 12 companies listed from 1 to 12 in terms of capital appreciation over the next 2-3 years. I currently hold all of the mentioned stocks but do have some cash to deploy. Thanks.

Q: Hi,

Why is this "Radio silence" on/from SMCI? When are they going to release their revised numbers? No news on their response to class action suits either. Next earnings report is on the 29th October. Is that when the proverbial muck hits the fan? Or do you think things might improve after their 10 to 1 split takes place on October 1st?

I see that this is not their first time with this type regulator related troubles. They seem to have survived the storms before. Will they survive them again?

The price action indicates a little bit of steadying around 400$. (+/-).
Can you gaze into your crystal ball and a. give us a floor and a ceiling, say with December 2024 in mind, b. tell us when it will hit at least 700 again? (Pre split price.)

Many thanks.
