Q: May I have your thoughts on COHR's recent quarter? Currently down 20%. According to my phone (not especially trustworthy) a solid quarter but drops on guidance. I note too they are planning to sell their defence division for 400 Million. Maybe the market thinks they could have got more?

Q: Good afternoon 5l
Nvidia seems to be pivoting to AI factories, as they call them. Could you provide a few names of companies which will likely profit from this turn? Perhaps also with a brief description of why you find them interesting.
Thanks
Q: Sorry for the long list, but that's my IT holdings and I need help to get to a more disciplined IT portfolio. About equal weight, except for SHOP which was owned and is currently on watchlist. Question 1- please advise a limited high conviction IT - does 5 sound about right? It would really help me if you could explain why these are chosen as I want to understand my investments. Question 2 - which ones to sell outright so that can redeploy funds? Any to hold for potential high growth potential?
Q: All OK with COHR? The market seems to like the latest results posted last night. Any red flags? I'm a "Buy and Hold" investor and I'm not overweight in COHR so I'm just planning to do nothing! I don't think Mr. Trump's tariffs will be an issue with this company and COHR don't seem to be to be overly reliant on AI spending. Any comments you have would be appreciated.

Q: I have partial positions in both and ask whether you would consolidate - which one would you prefer - and just as importantly, would you prefer another to these [sell both for a better opportunity at today's prices] for 2+ year hold.
Q: Hi Peter...I have some cash in my TFSA and I'm considering buying either SHOP or DSG. I like SHOP but I just don't think the large amount of stock based compensation is shareholder friendly. I'm going to spend about $80,000 CAD so I want stock liquidity. I do have a lot of IT companies (NVDA, CSU, LUM, TOI, COHR). Do you think either DSG or SHOP would strengthen my IT grouping? Also do you think I am being unreasonable about SHOP and its stock based compensation? CSU, where the executives have to buy stock in the open market, being so shareholder friendly makes me hesitant with SHOP. Any comments you have would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
Q: I am overweight both of these names. I am hoping for a recovery pop at which time I will seek to sell down a bit and spread the money out. Can you please give me a few other names that you might suggest for growth at this time? I sold booking holdings at a loss so please exclude that name. I am too afraid to buy back smci due to its wild volatility. I was consider coherent, Motorola, and Monolithic Power but am open to other suggestions. Thank you.
Q: I see COHR is up 16% today as I type this question. My news feed doesn’t show any news which would explain the rise. Does Bloomberg show anything?
Thanks,
Jim
Q: I believe these 2 companies are in the same sector, Information Technology. Both are supposed to have weak performance in 2024. Do you consider one company better than the other? Do you agree that they are not competitor's, each having their own separate niche? Do you think COHR is a better run company than KEYS? COHR's share price seems to be acting better than KEYS which may have more to do with COHR's proximity to AI. I'm mulling over selling KEYS to buy more COHR. Already got lots of NVDA and SMCI. I see COHR's CEO is retiring, potentially increasing the risk profile of the company.
Not sure what to do!
Regards,
Jim
Q: Its likely this has been asked before but I couldn't find it... Besides the big guns NVDA, MSFT etc what smaller AI players providing the picks & shovels look good forward ? Which ones would make good targets for the big guys ? Thank you.
Q: Hi Team,
Now that NVDA earnings have completely proved the markets “fear” going into the print completely wrong ; what’s your take on the stock going forward ? Continued momentum? Buy, trim , hold ? The way it looks to me comparing valuations and insane revenue growth rates NVDA might be on its way from #3 spot to eventually taking over both apple and Msft as largest company. Do you see this as correct? The crazy thing is AI is just getting started. Seems like a huge market for NVDA going forward with many countries that haven’t even touched the surface of getting started. I don’t want to sound overly bullish but looking at the future of the world dynamics with digitization of everything this seems to be the future . This being said ; there will be massive demand for data center infrastructure. What companies are the best to play this ? HPS.A seems like data center infrastructure will be a big area of growth for them . Your thoughts please , Thanks.
Q: Looking for "early winners" in "picks and shovels" for AI. Please rank among listed [FN COHR CRDO ANET SMCI] or others at current prices with what you like most about potential
Q: Would you consider these as early winners as AI "picks and shovels", quite apart from SMCI which has had a huge run-up?
What are your views on other hardware for cloud benefitting from AI - such as, IBM DELL HPE NET and CSCO. Bottom line - which are buyable today or could you suggest buy prices?
Q: I asked about COHR (formerly IIVI) last week and haven't seen a reply yet I am down 63% on it and wondering if I should hold or move on.
Thank You
Peter
