Q: Hi. Could I have your opinion on Patrick Industries as a way to capture the post-covid rebound? Is it too late in the recovery to get into this stock? thanks, J
Q: It seems all the Canadian banks are doing well - huge profits, reversing loan-losses, cash piles and talk of boosting dividends.
Is a lot of this profit due to the increasing real-estate mortgages being issued that have an implicit government backstop? I view this as a form of moral hazard - the banks know the government has their back so continue to lend despite worsening lending metrics like income to home price etc.
Do you see any risk from all the non-house owners in the country putting pressure on the government to reign in bank profits, as it seems only the 'rich' home owners are benefitting? Or would the banks themselves curtail lending as home prices continue to appreciate?
I know that the Canadian residential real estate market if a primary driver of our economic gains nowadays but at some point, the policital winds may shift.
What signals related to Canadian housing would you look for to make you want to reduce your exposure to Canadian banks?
Q: I would like your opinion on their strategy, business plan, competitive advantage if any, short and longer term growth, as well as fundamental investment analysis, Thank you, Martin
Q: With the recent news about Canada imposing tariffs on some furniture imports how do you see this impacting Leon’s in the short term?
Do you see this as a good entry point longer term?
Q: I own both ABBV and MDT and I am up nicely on both, thanks to 5i.
Thinking of selling MDT and purchasing SYK, which should have more growth in the coming months??
I would appreciate your opinion on all companies and the switch from MDT to SYK.
Q: Hello 5i: I have a 5% position in IPL and my cost avg is $ 25.95. If we assume that Pembina offer is accepted @ 0.5 shares current offer .. is it best to take a capital loss and sell now, or stay with Pembina as it seems to be a better managed company and possibly gain in both share price and dividend distribution.
Thanks
Carlo
Q: Could you give me your opinion on this "life Style" brand company that is in the smoking alternative space. Do they really have some better tech for their products? Can you tell me what their books look like,?
Q: These 2 companies paid a dividend prior to the Covid Collapse. In the case of American Hotel there is some indication of a possible return to dividend payments by Dec 2021 but it's not clear if Surge Energy will return to paying a dividend. Do you think these companies will return to paying dividends again, and if so, what should I be watching for to give me an idea of how long it will take to return to paying dividends.
Q: hello 5i:
I'm looking for a consumer stock, the portfolio being weak in that area. I've gone over past questions on the 2 noted stocks. I find BABA very intriguing from a risk/reward perspective. Morningstar has both undervalued, BABA moreso and a 5 year chart favours BABA as its hitting the bottom of its trendline. I'd appreciate your take on it, knowing that Chinese stocks are not your focus. There are a huge number of analysts following both stocks, so I'm indirectly asking you to decipher their opinions for me. For the sake of this excercise, lets assume a "medium" risk investor (whatever that is).
Q: Good day team,
I would appreciate your insights on Summit Industrial REIT. I don’t have any industrial REIT exposure at the moment but used to own Summit a while back. I’m wondering if I should buy again for long term hold and if there is still upside, or if there is another Canadian industrial REIT you would recommend and reasons why.
