Q: Me, would like 5iR's take/opinion on 2 measures - Piotroski Score where a higher scores classify a stock as a strong financial position, and also Altman Score that helps investors to gauge the probability of a company going bankrupt ........Keen to hear what you have to say about these two measures/scores......Thanks.....Tom
Q: I understand this is a new ETF issued by TD Asset Management. There is a little information on its website. I am interested in it as a short term cash management option. I could not determine the yield. If you look at the current holdings, it states over 90% is invested in other than Canada. In its top 10 it holds a number of Trusts and when you look into these they represent a range of money market investment options including car loans, credit card debt, etc. Though it states the risk is low, its holdings would seem to suggest otherwise. Firstly, can you compare TCSH yield with that of GICs or HISAs. Further, do you have an opinion of this ETF as a place to park money. If you prefer other like ETFs would you also state how you would rank them. Thank you.
Q: Please provide your view on Baxter and the significance of the spinout(or sale) of the kidney division. The stock has finally gained some traction after a tough few years. Do you like it as a position in a diversified USD account?
Q: Just a general question on how to react in moment like we are having now; a very nice 4 month bull with some sign of top. How to respond ? Trim your winner, trim your looser or do nothing and accept a correction. Thanks !
Q: Hello Peter,
I know you have answered this about Topicus special dividend. I find it odd that in the early stages of the company's existence , it is paying out a special dividend. Could this be a sign that the company sees little appetite for acquiring companies and will focus on organic growth? What is a good etf that excludes the magnificent 7 , SPY minus magnificent 7.. Appreciate it and thanks for the service.
Q: Hi 5i Team - I have heard some concerns about other countries withdrawing money from the TSX and probably the Vancouver exchange as well. Am assuming that this is through the sale of equities and then withdrawing the proceeds. Am not sure which countries or how many. Could you comment on whether this a valid concern, and if so then how might it affect prices of Canadian equities going forward.
Thanks.
Q: Hi folks
Awhile back (FEB 21)you answered my question about a few of my losers. I meant Medifast not Medgold. And you mention ELY..who are they? So what would your answer be now???
Much thanks
Q: I own both of these but would like to just keep one. Which one do you have more faith in going forward. Thanks. I plan to buy AXON as a replacement.
Q: HSAV returned around 5% in the last year, if interest rates going forward do the inverse of last year, is it safe to assume the return of HSAV will also?
Q: Hi Peter, I hold 60 shares of NVEI at an adjusted cost of 67.80. I know you are not a fan of averaging down but are there exceptions where you might risk averaging down and might NVEI be one of those where you make that exception or would you consider a sell here. Thanks
Q: Good morning. I hold the above stocks in my TFSA. Together they now account for approx. 6% of my TFSA. I am thinking I'd like to consolidate them into one or possibly two positions. Which would you choose to keep if you went that route. Alternatively can you suggest one or two Canadian and one or two American growth stocks to take their place. I already hold full positions of CSU, LMN, TOI, NVDA, and SHOP. Thanks for your advice, Rod
Q: BAM and BN charts are almost the same and over 6 months there is only about a 1% difference in price appreciation, even though PE and dividend yield are very different. Any idea why this is happening and if/when it might change? Thanks
Q: Hi 5i Team - If a company is listed on both the U.S. and Canadian exchanges, do you have an opinion on which would be the better choice, I realize that this may be a bit of a complex question with a number of variables to consider so if you could address just a couple of those variables that would be great.
As a corollary do U.S. dividends need to claimed in RRSP's and TFSA's.
Thanks.
I wanted to discuss Pfizer, a company with a dividend yield of 6%. Its yield and growth prospects appear more appealing than those of many other dividend stocks, including those in the telecommunication and utility sectors.
My question is: What is your opinion on purchasing Pfizer as a dividend stock for my RRSP and waiting for its recovery? Do you anticipate that it will regain market momentum either this year or sometime next year?
