Q: What do you think of Tamarack Valley Energy's latest acquisition of Clearwater assets?
The market seems to like it as I thought the stock price would drop down to the private placement at 1.15/share.
Thanks
Walt

Q: Hello 5i. I am an income investor looking to invest in the energy sector. Which would be your preference between Topaz and Keyera right now, and why? Thanks as always for the great service you provide.
Q: What is your view of this company as a small cap growth opportunity in the energy sector? The management team has a track record through various "Spartan" companies over the years, and the company seems to have low debt levels and other decent metrics.
I have stayed away from O&G in recent years but I am considering starting some positions in anticipation of better days ahead.

Q: Hi,
Now that the IPO has come out and the feeding frenzy pushed the stock to approx $71 on day one, it has retraced quite a bit from that one day high but still double the IPO price today (Dec 15). I will wait for this one to settle a bit more in the next several weeks but just curious what you think a fair entry price range would be given they are already profitable vs several other recent IPO's in the same space or other space for that matter? Or should one wait for the outcome of phase 2 and 3 trials before dipping their toes in on this one? I would only initiate a 1/3 position.
I realize the euphoria right now is around covid but longer term they seem to have a unique product/platform that could be applicable elsewhere, ie AbCellera and Invetx Expand Multi-Year Antibody Discovery Collaboration in Animal Health.
Cheers....

Q: I have been holding STLC for a while and pleased with its forward movement ...now the dilemma , when to sell. Is it one to keep for a while as an infrastructure play. Thank you.
Q: Retired, dividend-income investor. I'd like to rebuild my position in Leon's.
When I look at the Fundamentals (P/E, P/BV, P/CF, P/S, ROE, Beta), they all lead me to just buy it at today's current level of roughly $20.
However, when I look at the Technicals, especially when one overlays the 50 mda and the 200 mda, a completely different conclusion is reached. The chart shows that very single time the 50 gets way ahead of the 200 (as it is today), that it retreats a couple of dollars.
This leads me to believe that a better entry point, instead of todays $20 level, is in the $18.00 to $18.50 range. But...doesn't this logic approach "market timing"?
Bill Harris on BNN just gave LNF a very strong endorsement and suggested if all of the stars aligned (my words), that a target of $25-30 was not out of line. He indicated their FCF was bordering on "absurd"...$250-300 million.
Please help me sort through the mire of Fundamentals vs Technicals vs Market timing and point me in the right direction.
Thanks...much appreciated, Steve

Q: Rightly or wrongly, I believe a market downturn is coming with negative rates a possibility. I have raised cash by selling many of my equities. I'm not confident in the health of the corporate bond market but was wondering if you can suggest a government bond fund/ETF (US and/or Canadian government) or other government fixed income strategy that may benefit from negative rates?

Q: Looking to add some above gold/miners to my TFSA. Of the companies listed above please rank strongest to weakest and are there any above that you would add/delete? My RRSP holds FNV (full position). Is it best to hold these companies in Canadian or US in the TFSA?
Please deduct as many points as required.
Thanks, Lexi

Q: Peter and Ryan. First off I want to thank you both for the incredible service you have provided over the years. You have been instrumental in the success of a lot of my investments. 5 years from retiring and my portfolio looks awesome. Just wanted to provide some feedback and where you see5I going forward. When I first joined many years ago the question forum was very Canadian focused. It allowed us to hear about some amazing small mid cap Canadian companies. More recently (as I suspect membership has grown) many of the questions are around US companies. As much as I enjoyed hearing about the odd interesting US stock it makes for a very busy and unfocused question forum. Wondering if you would consider.
1. Two separate question forums. One for CDN and one for US
2. Creat a US based model portfolios. Income, balanced and growth
I for one would be happy to pay for a separate US based 5I membership fee. Im not sure if this will conflict with your new position Hedge Fund management role. Please do not take this as criticism, only feedback as I greatly value your opinions
Many thanks. Chris

Q: Hi 5i,
Currently continuing to hold AMC. Given the latest news about running out of cash and bankrupty concerns etc what would happen to share price in the event that they are forced to seek bankruptcy protection. Does it go to zero?
Do you think its worth continuing to hold at this point?
Thanks
Jim

Q: Can you please rate these stocks for growth over the next two years and possibly throw in a couple more choices you prefer. Thanks
Q: I’m not sure If this is in your database. Just wondering if you knew of this company, and what you thought of it? It does appear to be connected to medical cannabis. I am somewhat hesitant and have avoided cannabis stocks for the most part. It seems to have gotten a lot of attention lately. I’m just wondering if it’s one I should just watch for a bit more before taking the small position.
Thanks
John
Thanks

Vanguard All-Equity ETF Portfolio (VEQT)
Q: Hi
A quick question.
I know BMO/ishares have equivalent ETFs to VBAL/VEQT/VGRO.
Are there any equivalents to these all in one ETFs offered US ETF companies?.
Vanguard's US site doesn't show any.
Any one else in the States offering all in one ETFs?
I am hoping if they do offer, their fees will be lower than the Vanguard's here in Canada.
Thanks.
