Q: Good afternoon Gentlemen! Thank-you for your excellent service.
Could you share your thoughts on the the iShares JP Morgan Emerging Bond Market recent slump?
During volatile times I have retreated to Bonds to avoid volatility but you have warned about XEB in the past. Downloading their holding I have a rough total of 2.9% related to Russia and Ukraine.
Do you see further down-side to this investment?

Q: I have decided to move my investments from a portfolio manager to TD direct investing. I have a Cad and and Usd cash account and a tfsa. They have invested 50% of my money in mutual funds (mostly Dynamic Funds) and I'm tired of paying high fees with little or no active management. . They have told me they can transfer, in kind, the single stocks but must sell all the mutual funds before closing my account because they are F series. Does this sound right to you? Is there a way around this?

Q: I am looking closely at purchasing this stock. I usually buy my allocated amount ( 2.5 % ) in one lump sum but think your suggestion of partial purchases makes sense in this volatile and generally declining market. Should I wait until their annual meeting of May 12 as there could be some surprises or a pessimistic view from management ? Thanks Derek

Q: I find the dividend payment confusing for this ETF. Looking back at data over the last 4 years, i was expecting to see the dividend payment growing, What i found was that in 2018 the 4 dividend payments totaled .$1.15 ) 2019 - $1.32) 2020- $1.05) 2021- .82 cents. From a prior question on this ETF you mentioned they payed a $5.18 in capital gains distribution. Does this mean the fund sells the holdings at the end of the year and pays out the capital gains like a dividend?
Thanks Gord !

Q: In regards to CPD or just pref's in general. They have sold off a lot over the past month. Fair to say they have priced rate increases in and are now forecasting a slowdown and rates going lower? Would a partial switch to a TLT-US make some sense here if that is the thesis?

Q: Here in the Maritimes where we have regulated fuel prices, the regulators have found it necessary to substantially raise fuel prices, especially diesel and heating oil, for several days in a row. I am assuming the same is true in the rest of the country. Since crude prices have been somewhat flat recently while distillate inventories have been reported getting tight, is it a good assumption that these higher fuel cost dollars are ending up as crack spread profits to oil refiners? If so can you name your picks of companies that will be benefitting from this?
Thanks
Gary
