Q: Why is the Asset Class of Boralex classified as Energy and Fortis is classified as Utilities. Why the difference? Thanks.
Q: Hello 5i. I'm looking add a new growth position in a registered account, 3-5 year horizon, sector not a factor. PRL appeals for its momentum and valuation, GIB.A for its valuation and it sector, for which it seems very undervalued. They are apples and orages but which would you go with today, for growth? Thanks.
Q: Morning 5i,
You may have recently fielded similar general questioning and if so I apologize for the repetition, but here goes. Almost exactly two years ago the market was at a high very similar to its current level and I was feeling very good about my holdings, but things turned south pretty quickly - especially in tech but in other sectors as well - and it's taken me much of the two years since to recover. Granted, at that time I was holding tech names like LSPD, ILLM, EGLX, XEBEC, DOC and WELL which have now been replaced by LMN, CTS, HTA, TXF, TXF.B and I have shored up the non tech end of things with names like BNS, CM, GSY, PRL, EQB, CNQ, TOU, SU, KEY, ENB, EIF, SIS, DHT.UN and MDA but I can't help but wonder - are we approaching that precipice again and if not, why not?
Is the market fundamentally stronger now, and more resilient, than it was when everything looked oh so rosy two years ago? Presently things seem to me almost too good to be true, and I think when that's the case they often are and I would sure appreciate your perspective on the year ahead. (Right now I feel like I should all and go to cash ...).
Thanks, and please deduct as you think appropriate.
Peter

Thanks

Q: Please rank these 3 stocks for a growth focus (5-10years)if buying today.
Q: Why does ATS keep falling? Is this a buy, hold, or sell? What price should I start adding?
Q: I would like to change a large sum of US to Canadian dollars in my trading account.
I was thinking of purchasing US stocks for companies that are traded on both Canadian and US exchanges, and asking Scotia Itrade to move the US stocks to the Canadian side of my account, thus eliminating any commission in converting this US cash to Canadian. I realize that any equity I purchase could go up or down. I'm looking for a few stable companies whose stock values don't fluctuate much. Could you rank the companies in my subject line and possibly suggest others?

Q: A lot of market commentators are observing that there is potentially a correction ahead. Ordinarily I would follow your long standing thought to not try to time the market and I would simply stay the course. But one income oriented account I am concerned with has a priority of capital preservation. These 7 named stocks make up about 1/2 of the holdings. Can you please provide your quick assessment whether they are reasonably safe in the event of a downturn. If not and they are more exposed to a decline, would trimming be sufficient or are there some other names to migrate to protect the account assets?
Many thanks for your excellent service

Q: Hi Peter, several years ago I held a stock that a short position was taken on it and it fell because of that and I lost money due to that. Now I heard that a similar "short" was put on WSP so to avoid a similar situation as before I sold my 40 shares but this time at a profit. In this case the shares aren't acting the same or not yet that is. Was it a mistake, did I over react or is the short warranted. How do you know who to trust. Thanks

Q: At current valuations what would be your top 3 picks, regardless of sector, amongst the available CDR's for a long term hold within the TFSA of a 26 year-old (top 4 picks if NVDA happens to be one of your top 3 choices). If you then also throw LMN, CSU, BA and ATD into the mix what would your ranking be (best to worst) along with your conviction/confidence level (10 = most confident, 0 = least confident) for each choice and a brief statement as to why. Many thanks.

Q: Over the last couple of months and as a result of comments made here I have started positions in the above five companies with funds allocated to higher growth potential/higher potential volatility etc.
Four of the five have done very well so thank you. In keeping with your philosophy of pulling the weeds and watering the flowers I have a couple of questions:
1) Would you sell ESTC at this point in time and realocate the funds to one of the four flowers or to a "new" high reward potential investment you would suggest?
2) The ESTC issue aside, would you be adding to any of these flowers at this point in time and in which order?
Thanks for guidance over these last number of years,
Terry

Q: I am interested in buying Metro in a non-registered account with an investment horizon of 5 to 10 years. Dividends are not important. I am looking for capital appreciation in the stock price over that time.
Is Metro a good choice in the consumer staples space? And what would be a good entry point to buy it at? Thank you and have a great day.

Q: Both CTC and ATD are down. Would you recommend either or both as a good buy? Thanks Dan
