Q: Good morning,

I have been reading many more articles recently regarding the macro trend toward organic and non anti-biotic raised food. Major food chains such as A&W (thanks very much for the investing idea!) and now McDonalds (large restaurant chain in the world) offering meals with non anti-biotically raised animals.

Can you please provide your perspective on this as well as the best way for an individual investor to participate in this macro trend. Please provide best equity or other opportunities in this space either in Canada or in US.

Thanks as always for the independent perspective you provide!

Q: Your research report on Gildan states

"Gildan has significant exposure to cotton prices, which can have a big
impact on the bottom line. The company says fluctuations and volatility
in the price of cotton and polyester fibres is a big risk."

Is there any reason the company would not hedge these risks through cotton futures or even oil futures (for the polyester price risk)? It seems to me that this is exactly why these futures exist, to serve the producers and smooth their earnings cycles. Thanks, J.

Q: I have a new baby (less than two months old) and have just set up an RESP. We plan to contribute $2500 each year to get the government grants and grow a portfolio. Because $2500 is fairly low, what would you recommend as a starting equity position for this? Would something like GUD or DHX.B be a good start, or wouldis there an ETF be recommended first?

Thanks!

Q: I bought Cineplex for growth and have made a very nice gain on it. I wonder with it at over $50.00 if there is much more growth left in the short term and it might be time to sell for a better growth stock.
Thank you.

Q: Could you explain, in general terms, how companies like CXR (and I suppose VRX) actually thrive? CXR buys an existing company, but how do they become so successful? Do they somehow unlock synergies to cut costs or increase sales, or is it just price increases? Or is it that they somehow are able to purchase these companies at a great price, and if so, why would the existing owner sell at such a low price? CRX has levered itself to buy their most recent company, but why is this such a great deal? Thanks again for your insight!

Q: I'm considering investing in this medical technology company based in Ireland, and would like your opinion on its stability and growth potential. Is it still a good buy at $74.
Many thanks

Q: Had my eye on CXR for a while and thought I was cute by buying when they announced the placement pricing (at around $84 CAD) and we all know what has happened since. I caught a bit of your response yesterday to a caller on BNN regarding averaging down. My original purchase was a third to half position and makes up approx 1% of my portfolio. Thinking of adding to CXR here and bring my weighting up to 2% and see what happens. I may have also read that one reason for the share price decline was the possibility of having to do another share issue to pay down some debt? Is that a high probability? If so should I hold off buying the rest of my position?

Q: What do you guys think about kinaxis? I know it has a strong balance sheet and no debt. However, is this one of those stocks that are "always expensive"? I am not sure how fragmented the supply management business is and if kinaxis can benefit from it. Are the profit margins good?
Thanks guys keep up the great work!!

Q: Sometime ago I purchased ZUH-T to gain exposure to Health Care...and it is a hedge EFT. I would like to replace this position with an unhedged ETF or a Cdn/US dollar position. Other positions added since then in this sector are IBB (1.5 position weight), GILD and SKY (both 1 position weight), and GUD, PHM and PLI (0.5 position weights). Looking forward to your suggestions....Tom

Q: I have no exposure to healthcare. I have read positive comments on CRH. Although the price has risen considerably in the last week, do you consider it to be a viable addition at this time for diversification? if not, do you have another healthcare recommendation for a long term position?

Q: I missed the ride from the mid-20s to the mid-30s and wonder if now might be a good time to get in, or is it likely headed lower (still rather high p/e)

Thanks,
