Q: I am looking to potentially harvest some tax loss for future use and have the following questions:
BTE - if I sold BTE, what is a good proxy to park the money in with similar torque to improving sector fundamentals?
PTE - is there any hope for this or is it finally time for me to accept that it was a bad investment
Nobilis - I noticed it reappeared on the OTC as NRTSF but looks like the price and volumes are close to zero (or am I missing something?)....time to donate to my broker in exchange for a capital loss?

Thanks as always!!!

Scott

Q: Hi Peter,

The following were initial 4% positions which have gone down quite a bit and wanted to know if I should sell, hold or add:

In my TFSA, GUD (down 19.9%) and PTE (down 47.3%); in my margin account, TV (down 30.4%) and in my RRSP, ECN (down 6.4%).

If I sell then my options to replace would be RHT, GC, TSGI, PBH or GSY. I would appreciate your opinion. I am looking for high growth; risk and sector aren't an issue.

Please deduct as many credits as appropriate. Thanks as always.

Q: What are your thoughts with respect to research pieces that appear on Seeking Alpha or independent blogs ? On the one hand, I know that the writer typically has a position (which usually dovetails with the tone of the article), so I keep that in mind. However, I also know that "professional" research (from underwriting investment banks) is also biased, so you can't win there either. I was looking for information on Pioneering and found a series of fairly comprehensive write ups on a website that I'd never heard of (www.grey-swan.com). Other than the advice that one should take such information with a "grain of salt", what other factors should one be aware of from independent sources such as this ?

Q: There have been a million questions on this stock which has been virtually decimated. The price now is at Sept 2016 levels when revenues were way lower than the current revenues. So can you please list out the pros and cons of this company, possible market penetration, competition, management credibility and their ownership. What would be next catalyst for this company which will drive the price. Do you think there would be some company who would be really interested to buy them. What should one do if they owned this as a 5% position in the portfolio at average price of 65 cents. Thanks

Q: Hi Peter and Staff
So your growth portfolio results for February will show a disposition of these two stocks at yesterday's close - with yesterday's volume - there is zero chance we get out today or anytime soon at what you did / are these two companies going to survive or should we take what we get and exit ?
Thank you
Dennis

Q: I looked through the PTE questions, and I believe the questions I am asking have not been asked (yet). Specifically, there are two questions I have regarding PTE, that of insider selling and the Innohome partnership.

In mid-September 2017, one significant insider sold 875,000 shares, of a total position (as reported by SEDI) of 2.2 Million shares, or about 40%. How do you view such a large disposition by a significant insider, who obviously has a better line of sight to "future prospects" than outside investors ? I generally do not view insiders selling as inherently negative (if it occurs in smaller tranches), as I can understand that they too want to realize some value now & again. However, such a large disposition occurring before the UL858 regulation comes into play leaves me wondering.

In regards to the Innohome partnership, what are your thoughts as to how this is working (on an economic basis) for PTE ? My understanding is that PTE is selling the Innohome product via their distribution channels with HD, Wilmar, & Staples. This sounds to me like PTE has opened up the North American market for Innohome. I have not heard of any press releases suggesting that PTE products are being sold abroad (in Europe), which begs the question as to how PTE might be compensated for doing this. Do you have any thoughts as to how PTE might be benefitting from this ?
