Vanguard Mega Cap Value ETF (MGV $136.35)
Q: Hi,
Is the rotation into the value sector done? or do you think it is still a good idea to stay/buy into value plays.
If so, what is your favourite value ETF in North America and Globally as well. I gave the above ETFs as a guide and please don't be limited to these choices.
Thanks .
Mano.

Vanguard Mid-Cap ETF (VO $291.80)
Q: Hi There,
Do you expect the energy and resources sectors to continue to do well in 2023? I'm contemplating selling SU and/or Teck and moving the money into a US mid cap ETF such as VO. Apple to Oranges I know, however looking for the best risk/reward scenario.
You thoughts please.
Thank you

Q: YGOG, YAMZ Wondering if you have any opinion on these new ETFs. They're very small, but Purpose isn't a sketchy outfit. They look interesting if only because, in principle, a dedicated manager selling puts or covered calls on a stock like Google or Amazon should be able to generate decent returns. The volatility is high enough for meaningful premium but the underlying companies are also good, profitable businesses not at risk of going to zero.

Q: Hi,
Wondering about your opinion regarding copper and steel plays, given China's potential re-opening? Are these good options and if not, what else might you suggest instead?
Thanks!

Q: I would like to understand the tax implications of holding VXC in a TFSA.
According to my readings, I retain that the witholding tax is 0.48%. Is it correct?
Is an ETF you recommend? If not, do you have a suggestion?

Thank's James

Q: Do you know why Morningstar gives CDZ only 2 stars?
Q: I am reorienting my portfolio to be income focused and prepare for retirement in the next few years. Growth is not important.
I have 23% of my portfolio in covered call ETFs that are well diversified by both geography and by sector.
Can you please comment what’s the ideal percentage of covered call investments in a retiring income focused portfolio?
If growth is not a concern, do you see any risk in increasing the covered call ETFs to, say, 40% of the portfolio?

Q: We are a semi retired couple with RRSP's/RRIF's, TFSA's and a shared open account for dividend income.
In the dividend income account, we have 10 or so of the classic blue chip CDN stocks + CPD. (roughly equally portions), and are considering the addition of another monthly payer such as PMO205 to diversify asset types and stabilize monthly income a bit.
Does PMO205 make sense for this account?
If not, do you have other suggestions?
In the other accounts, our fixed income portion (VAB) has been a dog over the last couple of years.

Q: Hello:
Child turning 18 later this month. For initial $6500 to TFSA would VEQT be better than US only VFV? Very long time horizon and I never bet against USA!
Other options for long term growth?
thanks,

Q: Happy Holidays!! Two part question - What are your thoughts on index funds, I don’t think I see any in your portfolios.
I read some commentary sometimes how some “professional investors” say they are better than stocks, for as the stock market goes up the index funds will too, but stocks don’t always rise when the market does. I do see the counter argument there too.
And assuming you’re not opposed to them, you which ones would you recommend?
Please take 2-3 credits, as that was a long question.
Thanks,
Cam

Q: Hi 5i,
Can you explain how the “VIX” is related to the “VXX” ETF? I would have thought they should trade in tandem but they don’t even come close on some days (Example: Jan 3/23 VIX up $1.23 VXX down 8 cents).
Thanks
John
