Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: It feels like a gut punch. Down 20% today. Down 60% for 90 days ago. Sentiment is negative. It is now rated as Moderate Buy with 7 buy ratings and 5 hold (Tipranks).

A number of analysts have not rerated yet cause the earnings are so fresh.

The Balanced portfolio is now down +25% since inception of the position.

I am afraid (little late I guess) that the stock, not necessarily the company is broken.

I do not see a short to intermediate term catalyst that will turn this freight train around and just thinking, Where Are the Opportunities Now?

Sorry, still in a little daze about the drastic decline of this position. Not sure what to do at this point?

Q: I was seriously underweight in the health care sector in my portfolio, so this year's TFSA contributions (mine & spouse's) went to NBLY & AND.
Obviously 6 weeks is a ludicrously short time to evaluate performance, and these two investments only constitute a tiny fraction of my overall portfolio, but can you provide some assurance that these remain reasonable investments? Especially in the context of being the only direct health care exposure. Both are down substantially, NBLY esp. down almost 30%. Did I just happen to pick a bad time to buy?
NBLY results reported this morning didn't look that bad?

Q: Dear 5i team.

Looking to add to my SYZ position, but have a couple of questions.

1) Why do you show NR in your recent portfolio update as at Feb 10 but your March 21 co. report you gave it a B+?

2) Who are it's competitors and please give a brief comparison in terms of where SYZ fits on the list if stack ranked?

3) Would it make sense for them to acquire any of them in terms of synergies?

I am considering adding to my position given the market weakness and the stock current negative momentum, but wanted your input first.

Many thanks.

Q: This company is projected to make 1.32 US/share for 2021 or $1.68 CDN.. The numbers come out next week. It seems awfully cheap and indications are the seafood industry is very strong. Are you able to tell me the highest p/e it has ever traded at? If the 4th q numbers are strong, I think they may raise the dividend closer to the pre-covid levels.

Q: Hello Peter and team,
With Telus Internations latest good results, why is the stock tanking? I understand with the tech selloff Tecsys has taken a hit but your previous comments were positive with the exception of recent comment which was not as positive? Is this a hold and what has changed for investors to change the tune so quickly.. Lastly with BCE and Telus having higher PEs than normal, is it time to take some off the table? Much appreciated.

Q: I hold the above stocks as the industrial portion of my portfolio. I try to keep my portfolio under 28 stocks and your recent comments on your "cooling" to SIS has me contemplating a change. I am trying to decide if I am best served from a diversification standpoint to go with TFII (or too much like CNR?), go with a more of a manufacturing name (ATA, TT), sell SIS and spread the proceeds among the three remaining stocks or as another alternative, might you even consider selling CNR and SIS and replacing both with the names I have suggested (or any others you might add).

Appreciate your insight.
