Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: As a follow-up on a question re investment information - my favourite by far is barchart.com, especially for momentum investors although others may find it useful as well. The US site is a bit more detailed than the Canadian one, but that is not much of a drawback. So much easily available information, handy tools, screeners, etc. I used to like the globe.com/investing site, but much of it is behind a paywall.

Q: Hi 5I,

Looking for a couple stocks in this sector to add to my PBH and ATD holdings. Ideally I would like companies with good Dividend Growth and reasonable valuations. I was looking at MRU, L, and MFI, or any others you may have thoughts on.

Thx,
Chris M.

Q: For members who want to see short interest, the website https://ceo.ca/ displays it. Search by ticker or just add the ticker to the URL, e.g. https://ceo.ca/LSPD. The current short interest is shown upper left and if it is up or down from last report. A two-year short interest history is available by clicking on the current number or the short history icon. Their number for LSPD matches the one you provided in your answer to Bruce earlier today. I assume the 1.1% short in your answer is percentage of the float, not total share count. This site shows only total share count.

Q: Recent XYL results and the stock drops 7%. I've held for years and it has been one of my more volatile and poorer performing stocks. Yet even after today's action I'm up 15%.

I really want to own XYL largely b/c I firmly believe we'll need more 'engineered' water solutions. However, I'm ready to sell and try something different.

Please tell me why I should continue to hold XYL and not sell to buy WAT, AWK, DHR or and ETF like PHO.

Thx.

Q: Aside from the obvious demographic appeal of increasing demand for Savaria's products for aging persons with disabilities, it strikes me that as seniors have increasing need for cash flow in later years, they will turn more and more to reverse mortgages. This will lock them in as long as they can live in the financed home. That said, faced with disabilities that might otherwise force them to leave their home, purchasing Savaria's products will be the only solution. Do you agree? Do analysts understand this market force?

Q: Hi,

At what price should one start a position in KL? Under $50?
It has lost about $4 this week since the approved DG takeover announcement.
From prior Q&A, this is one of your top gold picks.
When do you anticipate that KL's management teams will be able to improve performance at DG and that it will start to be reflective in the SP? 6-9 months seem right?

Cheers,
Steve
