Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Xylem is rated a 'sell' by Raymond James. 'Sell' ratings are not too common among analysts so I would appreciate your opinion of the company. Would you recommend an alternate water stock to replace XYL?
With appreciation,

Q: Retired dividend-income investor, who trims-adds around core positions. I own XIT (my proxy for tech) in my TFSA and have been trimming as dictated by my asset allocation targets. Done very well with XIT.

Q#1 = Looking to start adding again...where would you step in?

Q#2 = A related question is regarding the recent sell off in tech. A BNN guest said that this current drop is way overdone and sees tech at least 20% higher by year end. Your thoughts?

Thanks...Steve

Q: Please provide your current comments on whether these two companies are good investments at this time. What is their potential for growth and what risks do they face in an inflationary environment?

Thank you and a happy new year to all at 5i

Q: Re: the previous year's total return for the TSX, XIC the i Shares ETF says 25.06% and I have seen other numbers close to that. But the yearly performance without dividends is said to be 21.07%. So two questions: 1. What is the correct number? 2. If it is 25.06 or close to it how can that be so much higher than 21.07? The composite dividend yield was not 4%, correct?

Thank you!

Q: Hello Peter,
There is a lot of chatter about rotation to value stocks. Nuvei and Lightspeed are growth stocks, but after the short report, are they getting into value territory and if so, would you think this is a good time to enter those names with an initial position? Also, from your experience, why would a short report damage the stock for longer period (as in case of Nuvei and Lightspeed) when the market liked those at higher levels but now all of a sudden, institutions don't seem to be backing up the truck. Could this imply that the short report had some merits as i would have thought as a minimum, the leaders in these companies would have stepped up and bought more stock? Lastly, if inflation is a concern, would an etf for banks like zeb a better choice than individual banks? Thanks very much.
