Q: Hi 5i:
Just a comment for Mark who asked about a good way of arranging a charitable donation of SHOP shares with a big embedded capital gain. He might check out the CanadaHelps.org website as they facilitate this sort of thing, have a very broad range of charities to donate to, and make it relatively easy. It is flexible so with something like SHOP you could donate several shares and distribute it to a number of different charities, one share apiece if you want to. The tax receipt is great because it is for the full market value of the shares at the moment of the actual transfer and comes electronically from CanadaHelps. There is no tax on the capital gain that you are giving away. You can share your contact info with the recipient organizations, or not if you’d prefer anonymity over junk mail.
Cheers for the giving!

Q: Hi Peter,
Like many, I'm interested in possibly buying a couple of stocks that have been hit by COVID but that should recover well when the world gets back to normal. However, I want to do this in a conservative way - with larger, stable companies with low debt and strong balance sheets; assured 'survivors'. Can you please suggest six North American stocks (other than banks) that I might consider. And would you see CGI (GIB) qualifying under those terms? Thanks as always.

Q: I kept my TSGI shares as I think the company has good prospects. I tried to update my Watchlist by entering LSE - FLTR and was told it did not exist. After some experimenting I was told it is now Flutter Entertainment Plc OTC:US under the symbol PDYPY. If this is so, how would I calculate what my 1000 shares are worth? Many thanks
Q: I kind of knew that Fnv was a no risk or low risk way of investing as itsRoyalties . However it was very surprising that it had over 100 % return . more to the point is the CEO of Fnv on BNN was very positive about its future .
I don't recall much about thison 5I what appears to be an attractive low risk with good upside.
Appreciate your advice

Q: I have decided to go to a cash position for next while. Only stock I kept was SHOP and one I should also have kept KXS. My year to go away in May and come back another day. It has been quite a ride this past 7 weeks but I am back to where I started my year. Where would you recommend parking cash for the next 3 to 5 months.
As always we are grateful for your service.

Q: Hi folks, could U comment on Q1 results for Mty/t, period ended Feb 28/2020, so no big impact from Covid 19. Expect next 2 Q's to be affected by virus. Are there any debt/finance concerns on survival? going forward. Would U recommend as Buy,Hold,Sell at low $20's, and do you like it, or Recipe recp/t better, if one were to buy 1 for spec investment. Thanks as always, jb Piedmont QC
Q: I’ve continued cautiously to hold GSY, not withstanding strong unemployment numbers which have to affect the company’s ability to avoid bad bets. Tomorrow will report some dismal news on jobs but today GSY stock, even after a recent lackluster reporting, up 23% as I write. Makes me think there is no logic in these current market conditions, that favorable or dismal stock performance could affect any company at any time. I’m getting very skeptical about the markets and as a senior, this is becoming quite unnerving. I’d appreciate your valued comments.
Q: Could you please comment on their results and outlook?
Thanks,
Milan
