Q: Happy New Year Everyone. Thanks so much for your much appreciated service. I have $10,000 to deploy in an RESP account for three grandchildren with a 10-15 yr time horizon. What are three new stock ideas along with suggestions on what current stocks I could add to assuming they are equal weightings. Current stocks: AEM, ARX, BN, CSU, ENB, IFC, LMN, RY, TD, TOU, TRI, TVE and WSP. Thanks.

Q: Hello, I hold BN and BAM (following the spinoff) in a registered account. BAM is a small position, any reason I should hold on to it? I have no need for dividends. Thanks!

Q: I have these five ETFs in RESPs for my grandchildren: VCN, VFV, VMO, XAW, XIT.
This seems excessive, so I would like to consolidate: can you tell where there is overlap, and which three I should focus on for the future. Or should I sell 3 and add a new one? Or should I just keep all 5 and top up one of them? They have all done fairly well, but I feel more of a US focus going forward might be appropriate. If I'm gong to have a technology ETF, it should probably be USA? Thank you very much for all you have done for me over the years, much appreciated, and Happy 2025 to all at 5i.

the TSX 10 years ago (jan 2014 ) was around 14,673. using the current price as I write ( 24,817 ) gives an annual rate of return based on these numbers is less than 3.5%! I assume that the dividends are not included in the numbers I provided ( from globe investor chart )? is this correct? do you have numbers for the average TSX dividend yield over the last 10 years? this compares with ( using same "method" as above with TSX ) with the S&P500 doing approximately 11.7% annual return over the last 10 years ( again, not sure if this includes the average dividend yield of the S&P500 in the numbers?). a snapshot in time of course, but illustrating the gross underperformance of the TSX in comparison the US markets ( nothing new here ). can you provide current valuation data/analyses for the TSX and S&P500 and comparisons to historic valuations please. Can you please include valuation methods of the "Fed-model" (and CDN equivalent), Ben Graham, Buffet, Schiller and other "big names" one might use please...

Q: I own three major Canadian Telecom stocks, BCE, Telus and Rogers. They all have done poorly in the Y 2024. I have all three for some time, they all are negative with BCE and Rogers losing more than Telus. BCE and Telus are paying good dividend. I also own AQN which is losing money and paying decent dividend. Should I take loss on these and move? I do not have need for cash. What are their chances of turn around? How safe is dividend for all three? If I decide to take a loss, which ones to keep?
I also own BEPC and BIPC, if I want to keep only one of them which one has better potential? If I decide to sell both of them, what would you suggest to replace them with? I do own other utilities: EMA, ENB, FTS, TRP and PPL.

It's time to make my annual TFSA contribution. I own AAPL, ADBE CRM, GOOG, NVDA, PYPL, QCOM, and TOL in my TFSA.

I would like to add to one position, which do you recommend? I am overweight NVDA so do not wish to add to that one.

Does 5i consider any of these positions in the 'do not need to own' category? If so, please recommend a replacement (not LLY, MDT, IBM, or MSFT; I own full positions of these in another account). The focus of this account is US equities with a risk profile somewhere between that of the 5i Balanced and Growth portfolios, and the objective is long-term capital appreciation.

It would appear gold will have room to run still. If you do agree I'd like to know.

I'm looking at adding that exposure as I have none with the recent pull back.

I want to set aside a small percentage of my TFSA for more speculative and less serious investments. With that in mind, could you please provide a few of your best guesses for stocks with quick growth potential? I understand that these will be higher risk but have a chance of outsized growth.

Q: Interview of 3 economists this month wich similar conclusions :"markets are extremely ( and historicaly) overvalued" , all anticipate some correction in January and "roller-coaster" after..No mention of sectors though ...Do you agree with this overvaluation thesis, and if this were the case ,what sectors would be less at risk ?
