Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I do have a small space in my portfolio for speculation and over the years have both won and lost. What I have "sort of learned" through my losses is to avoid speculative investments based on "hope", "discovery", "hype", Fomo etc. When I look at the above investments my opinion is that they are more likely to be taken private/over and unlikely to go into recievership/bankruptcy. If I didn't already have these I would consider entering a speculative position. For me this is 1 or 2% per company with a combined speculative exposure of 6 to 7%. So my question is does my thinking make sense and given the present market will these companies GSI. GRN and QUIS given time live or die. Thanks John

Q: I searched the i5 questions history and found that the last question was close to 6 months ago. I looked at the latest numbers and like that the margin % has increased and their balance sheet looks good except a for a recent large increase in inventory. Am I wrong to think they are ramping up production for unannounced orders and that the stock looks good?

Q: What are your thoughts on Gatekeepers last quarter and their trajectory lately. Its come down a little and trading side ways a bit. There is always talk of cuts to school budgets, public transportation budgets that will inevitably impact the company. I liked the fundamentals and growth when I bought and still do. But is it starting to turn negative or just a bump in the road? Thx

Q: Hi 5i,
'Pop' quiz - I've got a bit of cash burning a hole in my TFSA pocket. Which one (if any) of the above for a quick pop?
Thanks and Happy Holidays,
Peter
