Q: As the proposed carbon tax will primarily adversely affect the Canadian oil, gas, and transportation industries would it be a good idea to purchase American stocks in these sectors going forward? Or are American Companies potentially in a similar tax situation in the US?
Q: There was a large upward move (+22%)yesterday. I have not seen any news to justify it. What do ya'll think of this company?
Q: hello 5i:
Regarding the recently issued 5 1/2 year Senior Notes (9% yield). Can you quantify the risk? Can you also give a detailed description of these notes please
thanks

Q: Hello Peter, I have some US cash to invest in an RRSP. Can you please suggest four US 'growthy but somewhat conservative' stocks for a long-term (10+ years) hold. There is no need for current income. Also, I know you've suggested IWO as a US growth ETF. Would you be inclined to favour that for an investment now, or do you think that, with current near-highs and the upcoming election, it makes sense to wait until closer to year-end. Thank you for the terrific service!
Q: I was recently in NYC and impressed with the Whole Foods Market near where we stayed. Looks like the stock has been a basket case since its high of ~$63 (USD) in late 2013. It is now trading at about $28, a bit below $30 support level where it has languished since the end of 2015. The fundamentals are looking decent and it pays a modest dividend (2.93%), but I wonder whether the space is too competitive to allow for much growth going forward?
I would appreciate your opinion of WFM for a long term value play.

Q: Good afternoon,
You recently responded to a question concerning put write etfs. My understanding is that such an etf may perform poorly in a bear market. Is there an etf trading in Canada employing an option strategy that would benefit from a bear market, apart from the highly leveraged short term products?
Thank you for your advice.

Q: what is your current opinion on this etf and its relative position in your portfolio ?
Q: ET seems to be in a downhill slide since June, now down aprox. 15%. The 5 year chart shows a trading channel with higher lows and higher highs. Is there a fundamental reason for this stock to sell-off on such a regular basis? Is now a good time to top-up a position? Thanks Ron
Q: Artis has been in a downtrend for a few weeks now. Is there a specific reason? How do you think this will end? Is it time to sell at a loss?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: I am happy to own CSU, but feel uneasy to see the stock pass his recent maximum, and then start to go back under 600$. Is CSU safe enough, notwithstanding its marvellous journey ?
Q: Was wandering your thoughts on this company for a 3-5 year hold, good entry point now or wait for a pullback they seem to be involved in all the"sexy" sectors and performing quite well thanks in advance
Q: In a question ask by Victor on Sept 19 you characterized PIH's quarterly results as "mildly disappointing" and that "we did do think earnings were so bad, but it is not a name to own for 3 months". Now in a question asked by Klaus yesterday your response is that PIH "is the only one we would see of any real concern due to very big disappointment in its last quarter". Why has your view changed of their recent results changed?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: 5i,
Thanks for getting rid of Home Capital. I can finally take it off my radar. I've bought and sold this stock so many times due to the fact that I thought it was a "blue chip" that was just being unfairly treated in the market.
Hope you consider ECN as a replacement in your portfolio! I can see the stock being at around $6 a year from now and $9 a year after that. But it's probably too soon for a new company like that even if it is being run by Steve Hudson!
Thanks, Shane

Q: While I'm interested in asking about AX.UN, I'm noticing that the last few trading days have been tough for TSX REITS. AX.UN is mostly commerical, but I wonder if you can comment on the latest announcements by the Federal gov't to impose new rules on mortgages and how this might affect the commercial REIT market in Canada too.
Q: Thoughts on the recent pull back in gold and gold shares? A good entry point for Agnico Eagle or still more downside possible?
Thanks,
Jason
Thanks,
Jason
Q: I currently hold fts and aqn and down about 8% on both. With a us rate hike possible in Dec. Should I hold or exit my position. Further why would a small .25 increase have such a down effect on these stocks. This increase has been in the news for a year?
Q: Interest rate sensitive sectors are under performing possibly due to a December rate hike from the Fed. Do you think the reaction is overdone? Good entry point on REITs and Utilities?
Thanks,
Jason

Q: What is your opinion on replacing a holding in PWF with FSZ with respect to future growth and income? Joe
