Q: Hello Peter,
I have several 'half positions' in my TFSA and new cash to top up a few. While I know these are very different companies (APR.UN, AVLR, EGLX, PHO, XBC, FVI and ENGH), if you were investing with a 5 year time frame and had a 7 or 8 out of 10 comfort level with risk, in what order would you top these up, with the goal of best total return (not necessarily 'home runs'). Q: I purchased Aston Martin's stock around 6 months ago, and I'm currently up 100%. I believe in the new investors, which is the reason I purchased the stock in the first place. That being said, I know the company has many hurdles to jump through moving forward. Can I please have your opinion on Aston Martin's current valuation compared to other automotive companies. Q: Would the news "Fisker Partnering with iPhone Supplier Foxconn on New EV" is bad to Magna? Because Magna already signed an agreement with Fisker to help it build Ocean SUV. Is there any connection between this two news? How will Magna be affected here? thank you!

Q: I own these two bond ETfs inside a balanced portfolio. My understanding as the bond yields rise the price goes down, along with the price of my dividend stocks. Seems like a double whammy. Im trying to figure out if there is anything I should do here. Happy to hold the bond ETFs and collect higher distributions. Your thoughts please.

Q: Good morning. I'm trying to decide on whether to add to my existing KXS or start a new position in either DND or TOI. I have a long time frame. Are the prospects for DND/TOI compelling enough to start one or even two new positions or should I just build on KXS, which you suggested way back and which has been a stellar performer.

Q: With interest rates moving up on growth optimism, do you like CVD as part of your fixed income allocation. Seems it might hold up better than other bond funds and it pays a decent yield. I'm also considering ZPR in the fixed income side for the same reason. If this is two questions, please deduct accordingly. Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
Could you explain why you prefer XAW over ZGQ. I understand XAW has no Canadian exposure but ZGQ has much better returns and only .85% of the ETF is exposed to Canada.

Q: I am a 3-5 year medium and long term investor. I need to increase my position in Consumer Staples by about 3%. I currently hold ATD 3% and PBH 3% are in my taxable account. I have full confidence in the management of ATD but I now wonder if their business model has not changed a bit compared to the company I bought a few years ago.
1- If the electrification of transport raises from 2 to 10% within 3-5 years, how many customers will ATD lose?
2- If you have an electric car will you wait 15 minutes to recharge your battery in a convenience store?
3- Can ATD still grow by buying competitors at attractive prices?
4- Will future growth come in less profitable areas such as grocers and if so the P.E. will drop.

What do I do? Can you help me sort this out?
Buy more ATD? Add DOL? Add a little to the 2 already owned and add DOL, not DOL...

I'm lost.

Q: Can you name some Canadian ETF's which will benefit from the switch into materials or oil and gas or value rather than growth and safety? And can you rank them please? And give reasons for buying or not buying?

I know that's a lot to ask but I am interested in your assessment

Q: Based on Keystone XL decision, more crude will most likely be shipped by rail. US refineries need Canadian crude oil caused by shortfall from South America. Gibson plans to build facility to maximize crude content of rail shipments.
With footprint of tracks being different, who stands to benefit the most and why?

Some time ago you recommended a podcast called Invest 'Like the Best', which has been great, thanks for that. One of Patrick's recent guests is Jeremy Grantham who outlines a case for the current market being in late stage bubble territory. Do you have the same feeling? Any advice as to some defensive plays prudent investors should take other than taking some profit off the table or going to a slightly higher percentage cash to be prepared to take advantage of a downturn? Are you recommending any examples of securities which have done well in such situations?
