Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Peter,

My preferred shares keep getting redeemed. Please give some suggestions for p/s that would be appropriate for a rising interest rate environment. Would you stick with rate resets or would you think perpetuals would be discounted now?

Thank you

Paul

Q: Do you think that, while this unfortunate war carries on, industrials will continue to rise?
I read that gold, grain (wheat?), copper, paladium and nickel have reached new highs.
If so, I'd be grateful to know what stocks you would prefer to own to cover some or all of these, plus an assessment of the key metrics for your view.
Thank you for your highly appreciated viewpoints.

Q: 2.95 at the time of writing. Was staying strong at 3.40 for awhile. Last two days dropped to this new low outta nowhere. Is this most likely a leak before q4 this Thursday.

Q: Everyone,
My investment strategy is to hold long term and hold the best of the best. I have not sold any of my tech stocks but I have recently been a buyer. The only thing that has changed in the last six months is the price people are willing to pay - for each seller there is a buyer! The noise will pass someday - I don’t know the day but it will pass.

Q: Hi 5i,

If one was predisposed to achieve a higher yield for an income portfolio, what would you replace WSP, PRMW and PLC with? Or does this defeat the purpose of balance and keeping some growth?

Q: Good morning Peter, Ryan, and Team,

In our combined accounts, we are overweight in the Consumer Cyclical sector, and hold ATD, BYD, CCL.B, and MG. These stocks have been held for some time, so we have reasonable profits in all four.

In order to raise cash for our under-represented energy sector, please rank the four Consumer Cyclical stocks in order of the first to sell or reduce.

Our Energy holdings include ENB, TOU, and TVE. Please suggest three or four stocks in this sector that would be complimentary to the three already held.

Please deduct as many credits as necessary for this somewhat long question, and as always, thanks for your valuable insight.
