Q: Hi 5i team,
I have just read your report. One of their investments (Real Matters) is supposed to do its IPO over the next few months. February was even floated around recently. Following the start of your coverage of AIF (very happy about that), what is your main assumption about their investment in Real Matters. Sell their shares in the IPO, sell a prorated portion of their shares, distribute the shares to their current shareholders, keep their shares, increase ownership? What % would give to each of these scenarios? Any other possibilities? Thank you, Eric

Q: I realize that I have a poor understanding of how to value "pre-sales" biotech companies such as TR. How is a quantitative value placed on them - I assume it is based somehow on the potential market share of the company in the specific area they are developing drugs for, as well as the size of that market and the risk of getting product to commercial trade. But this seems all very subjective. For example, TRIL has traded all over the map, the value can seem to double or be cut in half based on some combination of risk profile vs. potential. For the average retail investor, how does one go about trying to value these companies, or is is better to wait until sales start to happen and then try to value to company on sales projection? Other examples could be PLI, or one I'm still trying to forget from years past, ISA. I'm wondering if these types of companies have a place in a responsible portfolio even one is "high growth" oriented?

Q: Hi there Bought a bit more of SYZ after what I thought were excellent quarterly results. Since then share price has been dropping steadily. Other than inside selling any other idea why this might be occurring? Another question I pondered about was how an insider sold 500000 shares in a couple days when the stock is so lightly traded. Do you think that was a single block trade - a prearranged transaction?

Thanks

Stuart

Q: Hi 5i: I split my investing between a number of different portfolios. One is a dividend reinvesting portfolio focused on dividend growers - all Canadian at the moment. My holdings consist of the usual suspects, big companies covering banks, telecoms, pipes, and utilities. I added a small position in Crius a few days ago, but I want to diversify some more. Any suggestions? I have no industrials, bio/health, consumer or info tech. I could include US stocks if necessary. If you would make a few suggestions I would appreciate it. Many thanks.

Q: Hi,,

I know this company would not be on your radar given the small size. That said, could you provide commentary on the potential prospects for this company and the balance sheet. I understand they have cash and growing revenues. Is there insider ownership? Any further insights would be appreciated.

Thanks

Q: Hi 5i: Re Gildan. I just logged on to ask about Gildan's drop today and I've read your response to the earlier Gildan question. I was concerned that Gildan was very exposed to a Trump attack, given that they changed their minds about buying American Apparel's US manufacturing facilities, and only bought rights to the brand. The news item I read on RBC Direct described the large layoffs in California and notes that Gildan employs thousands outside the US. The American Apparels "brand" is all about "American . . . .". Seems to me Gildan is very vulnerable; one might even say "asking for it"!. What do you think?

Q: Hello Folks:
We hold US industrial stocks such as Cummins, GE, UTX, BA, CVX etc.
It appears likely the incoming U.S. administration will prioritize infrastructure spending. Do you feel this will be the case, and if so, have you some large cap stocks I could consider?
Thank You For Everything

Q: Yesterday BNN guest suggested TRP.PR.K to use as a saving account as it is a reset with a minimum 4.5% reset or better. For those of us with excess cash do you recommend using this security as an alternate to a MMF?

QQQX was pointed out to me as an interesting CEF with a 7.1% yield as well as some very interesting growth oriented holdings. What do you think about this CEF?

With thanks

Sheldon
