Q: Hello Peter,
From what I have been reading: The cash positions within pension and other investment funds is at historically low levels. The trend over the past few weeks has been a shift from growth and technology to cyclical and value stocks.
On the flip side, the technology sector generally does well to start the new year.
I have done well with growth stocks mostly in the tech sector and have a couple of holdouts such as DXCM, AYX GH that have not performed. And I am also fully invested.
Should I look to raise cash by trimming my gains, which would be in tech, mostly US except for some CAD such as DSG, LSPD OTEX etc? Or, should I sell the growth holdouts for cash? Should I even raise cash and invest in cyclicals and value such as TT, RTX, US financials or any other you may suggest. Or should I just ride the growth portfolio into January and spring of 2021?
Looking for your magic eight ball answer.
Regards
Rajiv

Q: Please pick 1 stock for each of Canada, USA and Global. No restriction on sector.
( use as many credits as required)

A. Shorterm buy for 3 to 6 month, momentum type buy, get out once it slows.
B. Longterm hold growth stock ( 5+ years), but you expect a quick rise in the shorterm.
C. Longterm hold balanced stock ( somegrowth, stable adn growing div), maybe something that has been beaten up by covid that provides a good buy right now.

Q: I am trying to add some growth in my spouse's RRSP. She has 5-6 years to go before withdrawing. She is lacking in Consumer Discretionary/Cyclical. I have been looking at ATZ as a possibility. People pay $70 for a pair of cotton blend sweat pants?! Incredible.
Is it the on-line component that is driving this company? As it is back to it's highs in Feb when C-19 struck, there appears to be something to it. Could you explain again 5i's take/ Thank you. Stephen S

Q: Hello Peter,
First, I want to thank you and your team for a fabulous job. I really find your service useful not just from stock selection, but gaining knowledge in the industry overall. Best wishes for Xmas and the New Year.
The stocks are from various sectors so not apples to apples comparison but if you had to choose the list from lower risk to higher risk, what would it look like and what factors did you use to select the profile.. Many thanks.

Q: Hi folks, can get your opinion of the merger between Aphria & TIlray. Aphria paid a 23% premium to hook up with tilray, to become the largest POT company. Investment community & analysts don't seem to like the deal...but I think Irwin Simon is the right person to run the new company, and has the brains/experience to make the new company successful & profitable. Can I please get your thoughts on the merger, and the future of the "new" Tilray. Thanks & Joyeux Noel, jb, Piedmont QC

Q: I like companies that are based on a subscription model. With recurring revenues and growth "banking" on acquiring new customers, it would appear to be a path towards increased profitability and less risk. Aside from the obvious candidates, Netflix, Adobe, Crowdstrike, Microsoft and even Disney, can you identify a few companies in the US and in Canada that receive their revenue largely on subscriptions, that are not mega corporations already but exhibit strong growth.

Q: I'm helping my 27 yr old daughter with her TFSA investments. The TFSA currently holds GSY, KXS, LSPD, PBH and SHOP, which have all done very well. I got SHOP for her at $67/share, so it's done particularly well!!
I'm looking to add one more growth stock to the mix, and have been considering LNF, WELL, GOOS, DOO or ATZ, but am completely open to another suggestion to complement her existing holdings. Please rank these from best to worst for growth (with moderate risk) if you were add today for a 1-3 year hold. If you have another suggestion for a stock that may perform better over that time frame, please provide it.
Thanks 5i for such wise and timely advice, always!

Q: Is there any news for SHOP big price increase on Wednesday ? GSY increase 10% in 2 days . Is it an effect from triple witching due on Friday ? When would PEO acquisition completed ? I am thinking to avoid the possible tax increase in capital gain . Is it a good idea just to sell it now? I greatly appreciate the excellent service at 5i. Happy Holiday.

Q: Hello,
If you had to pick 2 Canadian and 2 US growth stocks what would be your favourites today? I believe abnb will be a disruptor in the industry, what do you think of them currently? Would you buy or wait till the dust settles a bit. At what price would you consider it a good buy? Thank you
