Q: hello 5i:
I've just sold BPF.UN and wish to replace it with a good, reliable income stock with at least a bit of growth potential. Would Crius (KWH.UN) be a logical name? Any other suggestions?
thanks
Paul

Q: If I were to buy a GIC from Home Capital under 100000, what would happen if they went broke? I understand that the GIC is insured, but for how long would the money be tied up while all the paperwork gets done? And I guess I wouldn't get interest during that time?
Thanks
Thanks

Q: Hi, This company has been mentioned a few times on BNN. This company has recently been shedding its non core and non profitable printing/media business and made a few acquisitions in packaging industry.Company also pays a good dividend. In your last post, it was mentioned as a value stock. What are your current views on TCL.a? Do you believe that management's new strategy to diversify into packaging business will pay off and it makes a good candidate to add to my packaging stocks portfolio ? Thanks

Q: Update
-
Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. (BEP.UN $36.97)
-
Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. (BIP.UN $48.11)
Q: Both these companies report in USD. They are listed in NY and Toronto. Is the Toronto price basically a function of the rate of exchange?
Do these companies have a hedging strategy to protect the Canadian shareholders?
I suppose that an investor concerned about foreign exchange losses should examine the hedging strategy of any company holding assets outside Canada.

Q: What do you mean when you refer to a stock as a good/not-good "trading" stock (as for instance in your reply to Robert's May 19 question about CHE.UN)? Thank you.
Q: Hello 5i;
There are several ways to buy bond etf`s that are better during possible rising interest rate environments .
Those being;
1- Laddered maturity schedules
2-Floating rate bond etf`s
3-Preferred shares with a minimum reset provision .
Which of the 3 would you consider best , 2nd best etc .and what would be your top 2-3 choices for each .
Thanks
Bill C.
