Q: I want to add a renewables. I am stuff between aqn and bep. Both seem to be growing quite nicely. BEP has had more consistent returns. AQN had some serious trouble in 08 and I think it was down to around $2. If I am going to drip, does AQNs 5% discount play a factor here into your decision? I notice Scotia having AQN distribution rising slightly more rapidly than BEP into 2020, do you agree with this? What are key geographical / operational differences that would play an impact into long term growth?

Q: This is for a taxable account. If ZDB has a current yield of 2.1 and a one-year GIC offers 3.1 and no fees, am I better off choosing the GIC route?

Q: Altagas preferred shares have really been pummeled in reaction to company developments and the sell off in prefs generally. Do you think they offer reasonable value at these levels and do you believe the dividend is reasonably secure in view of the coming cut in the common dividend? Thanks.

Q: Hi, I am looking for 2-3 stocks which have recently come down, but have strong revenue projection, low debt, and good track record.
I am not looking for Oil & Gas, Pipelines, or Utilities.
Please let me know if CGX, SIS, WEF, QTRH, NFI meet that criteria. If yes, how would you rate these.
If not, please suggest few other names.
Thanks for your help.

Q: Can you suggest two or three US utility co's. that would be appropriate for a US dollar RRIF? I believe Ryan had mentioned one on market call, but I missed part of that broadcast.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: I had an equal weighting , originally, in the above mentioned. companies. I assume ALA will cut its dividend. That said , The other three have no hair on them. Would you think selling ALA , I have lots of gains, and moving into the other three??
Kind regards.
Kind regards.
Q: I own some APU shares in a RIF and although it's probably not the best type of investment (Limited Partnership) for a RIF because of the witholding tax in the US, I always thought that the higher dividend compensated for that.
The shares bounced around my purchase price for a long time, showing small gains or losses, but it's now down 21% and I'm not sure whether it's worth keeping.
Would you recommend holding or selling and if you recommend selling, would you give me a few recommendations in the US that pay a dividend that look more promising. I have ENB in the US and plenty of REITS.

Q: Hi,
My portfolio is light on fixed income and it's not a sector that gets me excited to educate myself about it...What is the best way to get exposure to fixed income at a decent yield? Any ETFs or mutuals you can recommend? Or should I buck up and educate myself and buy some Bonds?
Cam.

Q: hello! as a retired income investor, I have approx. 17% of my (well-diversified) portfolio in CBO, CLF, CPD, XHY … I also have CRT.UN, CHP.UN, CAR.UN, AW.UN, BIP.UN, BEP.UN (approx. 15%) .. I have $100k in cash that I would like to put to work .. what might you suggest? thanks!
Q: Can a case for Crius be made based on a thesis of increased demand and prices for North-American based energy, driven by high growth of the overall US economy? New steel mills (announced this week) and manufacturing in general consume large amounts of energy. Is it reasonable to assume that if prices of gas/electricity start to rise, that fixed priced supply contracts would become more popular?
Q: In numerous questions you always give a preference to PPL over IPL. Could you please explain your rationale for this ? Thanks. Joe
Q: Do you think it is likely that there will be a cut or do you think that the dividend is safe?
Thanks,
Philip

BCE Inc. (BCE $32.50)

Enbridge Inc. (ENB $61.88)

Hydro One Limited (H $48.00)
Q: I bought BCE two or three years ago and watched its value peak about 3 times before settling back down now to levels pretty much where I bought it. In the meantime, I've had the benefit of a good dividend.
When I look at the 3 year chart, it is beginning to look encouraging again. so I was thinking that maybe some folks are buying into the telecoms because they like the stability offered in an economic downturn. I was about ready to sell and look for something with a bit more growth. Maybe I should hang on?
Would you recommend anything else with a similar dividend and stability in this economic environment?

Crius Energy Trust (KWH.UN $8.80)
-
Rocky Mountain Dealerships Inc. (RME $7.40)
Q: Hi: The above three seem to be dead money or major losers. Is there any hope for them? If not, is it time to sell them or wait longer for a possible bounce?
Q: Can you compare the two for me? What is growth expectation for each and valuation on a comparative basis. The yields are very attractive while BEP has committed to increasing their yield through 2022. Also, can you note why BEP.UN is rated an "A" and would it still be rated an A as it hasn't had a report in a while? Thanks.

Fortis Inc. (FTS $64.85)

Canadian Utilities Limited Class A Non-Voting Shares (CU $38.37)
-
Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. (BIP.UN $44.36)
Q: CU has been dropping steadily from over $42 in June 2017 to just over $31 today wiping out over 5 years' worth of dividends. What is happening? CU has raised it's dividend every year for 45 years. Is this the end of the dividend growth ride? It makes me afraid to invest as a senior looking for for the 5% dividend. Your advice? What utilities would you prefer [ie "safer" less volatile] with growing dividends around 5%.
Thanks......... Paul K
Thanks......... Paul K
Q: I have been looking at Enbridge, and am confused about the increase in outstanding common shares. It seems that they more than doubled in the past 2-3 years. Is this from acquisition or from the company issuing more shares? Is there a way to tell for other companies (online), so I don't have to ask you for each one I find similar results?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: I am looking for quality dividend-growth Canadian stock, yielding at least 5%, mid cap or larger, for medium to long hold, in the following sectors: banks, pipelines, renewable energy.
I am considering adding to BNS, Brookfield Renewable (BEP.UN) and Enbridge (ENB).
I could add to Interpipe (IPL) or Innergex (INE) but am thinking that Enbridge and Brookfield Renewable are better choices at the moment.
Your opinion? Other names to consider?
