When these companies like BNS announce share buybacks. What determines when they buy back shares and how many total buybacks they exercise. Would the buybacks by Google be done the same way or are the rules in the US different?

Q: What is your opinion of the Canadian banks at this time . I currently own XEB in the open, RRIF and TFSA- approximately 20% of my entire holdings.
I'm considering buying one the banks in my open account for income and average growth, but not sure which one. I would appreciate your recommendation.

Q: Like many 5i customers my bond ETF's have been whacked over the last 6 months or so. I bailed on a couple of them in January (good move as it turns out) but am still exposed in my RRSP. Bonds still seem to be dropping but yields in general are up to the 3.5% range. My question is "with inflation running at around 6% at what point will the numbers (yield/market value bottom) make sense to start buying bonds again"?
