Q: Hello Team,

Looking at updating/rejigging my TFSA account, are you able to rank the above stocks from 1 - 12, looking at a 3 year hold. These are a mix of some I hold and some I want to purchase. Not worried about size, risk and or industry. Thanks.

Q: What are the tax implications of owing the iShares Gold Trust (IAU) in RRSP and non-RRSP accounts? Is IAU treated the same as other US ETFs for Canadians, from a tax perspective?

I recently read that the US taxes gold as a collectible, at a higher tax rate than equities. Does this apply to Canadians who own IAU?

Q: Good evening!
I have shares of BCE at an ACB of $55.40, which today closed at $47.03. I thought maybe of establishing a rather large capital loss for future use by selling them and buying Telus as a proxy for the necessary holding time frame of 31 days to confirm the loss. However, looking at the charts I saw that Telus has been fairing a bit better than BCE lately, so I am not sure that there would be some 'reversion-to-the-mean' happening during the 31 days. That could mean I end up with less shares of BCE when the dust settles!
Sort of a two-parter here. First of all, is this a good idea at all? Second of all, if it is, is there perhaps another 'proxy' you might suggest I look at?

Q: Good morning 5i
You recently published an excellent report on which companies to buy in view of upcoming interest rate cuts. Most of them were companies with dividends and struggling with debt.

If you were to buy a no dividend or low divident Canadian company today, what would it be? Or, perhaps three, ordered from first choice to last?

Q: Hi 5i Team - In your opinion what might be the possibility of a Canadian bank or several of them failing, at least temporarily, because of a cyber attack, with the consequence of account holders not being able to withdraw cash.

As a corollary to this question what would be your recommendations of safe options for people wanting to store a portion of their cash in case of the above event.

I tried going through recent Q+A to make sense of these two ETFs.

Can you simplify for me?

1) What are the key differences of these two? The yappear to have similar holdings, just diff %.

2) Closing in on one year since inception, any more visibility to performance/cost etc?

3) Can both be held, or do you prefer one over the other?

Q: I keep hearing the word longevity these days. Seems people are living longer so I think there must be some investments I can make to take advantage of this trend. Please give me the names of some companies that are involved in helping people live longer lives and at the same time provide drugs or technologies or therapies that help them enjoy longer lives characterized by a higher quality of life. I'm interested in both American/global companies and Canadian.

Q: Please provide you input on the pros and cons on the difference between ETF bonds, such as RQQ, with maturity dates, vs ETF bonds, such as VAB and/or XLB, with no maturity dates. Instead of investing in GICs, which you are locked in for a period, RQQ can be bought and sold when the market opens, making it seems to be almost as good as GIC.

Q: The operating cash flow for FSZ for 2023 was 137.97 million and for 2022 the operating cash flow was 113.31million. This info comes from Yahoo Finance and from Microsoft Finance. The divvy payment is 92.1 million. Are these numbers the same as yours from Bloomberg?
