Q: Hi All, I am looking for a recommendation for for a TFSA at this time. Doesn't matter about sector, etc. as pretty well diversified in RRSP and 2 TFSA accounts, just looking for one or two of your gems. Your service is superb, thanks so much.

Q: Hello Peter,

If one wants to own just one North American stock in the digital payment space, which one would you recommend? And if two, which would be the other one? Would there be enough differentiation or a low correlation to justify having two stocks in a portfolio?
In a similar vein, could you give me your recommendations (excluding GSY) in the lending/credit space?

I am looking for 5 US Income producing stocks to provide US funds to travel with. This will be long term investments, looking for low to moderate risk, good income stream and somewhat diversified although that's not a huge criterion.

Q: both Boyd and GDI operate in fragmented industries and follow a growth by acquisition business plan both trade near 12 month lows. both have been upgraded re their latest reports what would be a good entry point for each company and which do you favour for capital appreciation for the next 3 years. thanks Richard

Q: For discussion purposes, If one has taxable income of >$220K in Ontario, the tax rate on income would be 53.53% and 26.77% on capital gains (for now!).

My first question is if one trades too frequently in a TFSA and the CRA decrees that this is business income, then is it correct to assume that the gains are taxed at 53.33% i.e., go from 0% tax to 53.53% tax?

My second question. If one trades too frequently in an unregistered cash account, is that also treated as a business and taxed at 53.33% i.e., go from 26.77% tax to 53.54% tax?

Any thoughts on roughly how much “too frequent” is?
