Q: I have HHL & HHL.U in my registered accounts for many years. It has been a good dividend (>8%) generator with its policy of options investment of about 30%. It has a high management fee of 0.85 and MER of 0.99.

LIFE is similar with almost half fee and dividend is equally attractive. Like to get your advise comparable merits of switching HHL to LIFE.

Q: This offshore drilling company (Transocean) stock price has increased 111% over the past 12 months.

Many rigs are still on previous leases at much lower prices/day rates than the current new leases being executed.

Assuming rig count stays the same (does not increase like it did in 2022), but expiring leases renew at recent rates with existing or new customers, what is the fundamental outlook for the next 3 years or so (approximately)?

The stock price has been very volatile...$0.81 in October of 2020, $84 in 2011, and currently at $7. Trying to get a better grasp on the fundamentals here in the above scenario that should translate to the stock price...

Q: Apart from small positions in LMT and NOC, I would like to build my defense position. I am a GARP investor, not focused on yield in this sector. I note your concern about LHX at 15x EBITDA. Overall, how would you rate these stocks or others in the sector that you like for 3-5 year hold and advise buy prices. Would you consider AXON in this sub-sector or industrial good more generally.

Q: Can you provide an updated outlook on this stock. Reading your limited Q&A on the stock over the years it seems debt has always been a concern of 5i but it has always been noted as "cheap".

Reading more about the company it seems they are a "serial acquirer" of cheap companies (14) over the years this seems to have gone well for them any they buy back shares.... any updated thoughts?

On January 10, you were asked a question about Loblaw Preferred Stock (L.PR.B). I really appreciated the relevance of your comments (a net benefit of being a 5i member) and bought it for the income. My question is, do you know of any other perpetual preferred shares that meet the same definition as what you stated (of all the preferred shares out there like this: (Of all the preferreds out there, this would be in our 'no need to worry' category, easily).

Can you please recommend a financial software that can be used to develop a retirement strategy for withdrawing funds from RRSP, TFSA, Investment accounts, etc.?
Of particular value would be a platform that details how to draw down funds and at what amount and/or percentage of one's overall portfolio on an annual basis.
