Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you name a few start-up companies that have good management and decent growth potential as well as some cash on hand to fund operations, research and development for at least the next year, hopefully more. These would likely be companies that have not yet attracted analyst coverage and are low on the radar screen of investors. Any sectors in the U.S. and Canada are fine and market cap is not a concern. I feel that LMN and TOI might fit this description but I already hold them and am looking for some new ideas. Thanks.
TD believes that BN is only pricing in BIP, BEP and BAM and ascribing no value to BBU, oaktree, insurance and the real estate.
Do you agree? If so, this must be a deal of a century?
TD- After subtracting the market value of BN's stakes in BAM/BEP/BIP, the stock is ascribing negative value to the stake in BBU (~$1.75/share), real-estate (~$20.00/share), insurance (~$2.50/share), and carried interest (~$3.60/share). BN's ~$4bln of annual FCF provides considerable firepower to address the discount, although share buybacks must be weighed against the prospect of growing the franchise. We believe that BN's conviction in the intrinsic value of its stock price is evidenced by ~$750mm of TTM share repurchases and ~ $100mm of share purchases in the open market by the senior executive team.
Portfolio Analytics indicates an overweight position in Utilities where the current holdings are BEP.UN, CPX, and FTS. Only CPX is showing a loss, and the other two have substantial gains. In what order would you sell part positions, in order to raise cash for Consumer Cyclical? This sector’s holdings include ATD, BYD, and CCL.B. In what order would you add to existing positions? Please suggest other Consumer Cyclical stocks to consider starting a position, if you feel it would further diversify our holdings in this sector. Thanks as always for the pertinent advice.
CNQ has stated that once they reduce debt to 10 billion they will then return 100% of free cash flow to shareholders. How do they arrive at this number of 10 billion. Why not 5 billion? Or even better, why not reduce debt to zero then return 100% of FCF to shareholders?
I have sold MG at the top, is it a buy at this level? the stock momentum is good, car sales are on the upward momentum in the US.
You have B+ rating on MAL, do you still feel positive after the last Q?
Would you add to an existing TIXT (loss position at this point) at this level representing now only 1% of my portfolio (given your B+ rating for the company)?
