Read an article expounding the virtues of Cogeco and its holdco . Article cited low P/E and payout ratios as well as equivalent dividend rates based on current price with expected re rating to get discounts lower than present versus BCE and T. What do you think of this and as well the option of CCO versus CCA
Thanks for all you do
Dennis
Q: Peter I own Birchcliff. Your thoughts 0n its recent quarter please. Is the cash flow paying the dividends or is it over paying??? The market does not like it Thanks Ken
Q: Annuities? To be or not to be? As a retiree I'm pondering whether to buy an annuity at a time when the payouts are at a recent hight. I'm not sure I see any advantage over buying say ENB. The company will likely be still around in twenty years with just as much assurance as an annuity provider. I'll get a dandy, tax-advantaged dividend ( not "guaranteed", I know) and still have my capital. can you comment on annuities and whether they make sense or not? thanks. al
Q: I know you like all of the above for a TFSA - so do I - but need to raise some cash and am struggling with what to sell - is there one you would sell first? or maybe trim 2?
Thanks,
Terry
Q: David's call is for Cdn bonds to outperform in 2024 due to the necessity of BOC to cut rates due to mortgage doomsaying. What do you think and if you concur what etfs should one buy?
What are your thoughts on POW-A these days for an income play. I know there has been little growth in recent years, but at 6+% yield, and a ~7% 5-year dividend growth rate, it does look compelling to me.
Q: Hi 5i Team - I am interested in joining a group of individual investors who like to share their opinions and research on various equities. Basically a discussion group not necessarily involving a specific speaker. This could be through virtual or in person meetings. Do you have any suggestions. Thanks.
Q: Everyone, if you could read only one: magazine / newspaper / or online newsfeed what would that be (beside 5I) to get your financial perspective on the world? Clayton
Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
MATR just reported Q3 results. Your overall opinion please and your prognosis going forward for this company. Thank you...your help is invaluable to us little retail investors.
Q: In the name of "cutting the weeds," I'm down 20% or more on the above names (LIT:US; CTS:CA; TCN:CA; TSU:CA and TMO:US.) Are there any of them that you would get rid of at this time. Or do you think that they will have more upside from this point. If you don't like one, which would you recommend to replace it. Thanks.
Q: Good afternoon!
I would appreciate an update on your views about the residential arm of Dream. They seem to be doing well, but I was hoping you might help me spot any red flags here, or point out where I am not seeing the data correctly. My cursory review noted the following:
1) Debt to assets only 31.9%
2) Stock price at 50% NAV
3) Paid $10.5 distributions, out of $.18 FFO, which implies a payout ratio of only 58%, which seems low and I would think adds to some margin of safety for a small firm.
4) Actually are buying back stock, although minimally.
5) Dividend seems very good at almost 7%.
