Q: Peter, I believe you've most recently favoured WSP over STN. STN seems to have behaved much better over the past few months. I'm about ready to pull the purchase-trigger on WSP (as I typically prefer a bargain over 'momentum') but thought I should check. For a long-term hold as of today, which of the two would you favour? Thanks!

Q: due to the complicated change of shares, i now find myself with 500 itx shares and 400 jpj shares. This was not my intention. To have all shares in itx will cost me about $200.00. Is it worth while to leave my shares in jpj that i cant trade? Would this be to my advantage for increased return? Thanks 5I
Q: Is this stock most suited for an RRSP vs TFSA or non registered account due to its foreign income portion in the distribution? Joe

Is this the technology that Shopify supplies ? Is there further opportunity to invest in this type of technology .

Q: Other than currency what is the difference between these two products. I would like some insurance on market volatility but am unsure which product is best. Is there a better way to protect against volatility other than cash. Thanks

Q: In reference to a question from Peter concerning Enghouse and Boyd, when or how do you determine winners(former?) are no longer winners? I have a few positions in which I have done quite well and despite nothing materially changing in the company, the stock price has stagnated or has been range bound for months.
I am reluctant to change companies just for the sake of change or to try to chase returns but often I am enticed by companies that seem to have momentum But this often throws off sector weighting?

Q: Can you recommend an ETF or specific stocks to get emerging market exposure. Looking for long term growth.
Q: BDI dropped 6% today cant find any news. Is it a good time to add to.
Q: Just a comment to Mike re: TDWaterhouse and the Altagas dividend. TDW rounds off to even cents on its quick quote screen, so ALA's actual dividend rounds up to $0.18 and is reported as such (the dividend received by the investor is accurate). I have also found that sometimes they include a special one-time dividend/distribution in the rolling figure, which can significantly reduce the accuracy of the reported figure. If you find a stock of interest, best to check the company website to confirm the actual dividend payment.
Q: Just as a follow up to the answer you gave on this company, IRD was highlighted by Ryan Irvine in his monthly Keystock newsletter of Feb 1, 2017. As well, the year end numbers will be issued the last week of February and there may be buyers ahead of the report.
Q: My question is more a general. I am looking at the Tdwaterhouse investments site and I am wondering how they calculate the dividend rate. The company that leads to this question is ALA who's listed dividends are .18 per month or $2.16 /year. The share price was $30.46 and the dividend rate listed is posted as 6.89%.
My calculation would be 2.16/30.46 = 7.09%. Why the difference? Their rate does adjust with the price changes. Does their rate reflect dividends paid in the last year and hence not include dividend increase part way through year or going forward.
As an investor I am interested in the dividend rate going forward. What am I missing. When should dividend increase be reflected.
Thank you again for your excellent service. ps kwh is of to a great start.
